Why couldn't this information be given to fans in our matchday programme, like Fulham do in theirs.? Majority of what Giddings will say will not get to Reds fans as few tune in to Radio Sheffield and with not everybody knowing where to look, might miss the statement online unless it appears on the Club website, plus if it appears in the Chronicle, not every fan will see it.
Radio Sheffield did the Gauthier and Morais interviews around this time in 2018. Outlining the future plans and reassuring fans that there were targets for the Championship and League 1. The club later sacked Morais and brought in Stendel. I should imagine that Dane and the directors are behind Struber and will be back him to bring us back up should we be relegated and he and Struber have sat down and drawn out a plan for both eventualities but are confident the club will retain it's Championship status.
Just listened to it. It's as open as anything I've heard this season, and acknowledges that some things could have been done better. There are also some parts to it where he gives the impression that he's a figurehead, rather than the one running the show on a day to day basis, in a way that's different to how Ganaye or Mansford came across in their respective times in the role (albeit that was largely with Cryne as owner, rather than the current ones). Certainly something to be welcomed, in a season where communication has been extremely sporadic. I know a little more than I did beforehand, and it confirms things I already suspected in other areas. It suggests that they're looking to improve communication further and acknowledges that trust with the fanbase needs to be re-established. Given that there was no expectation that this was coming, I'll take that as a start point, for now.
Why can’t we publish it on something that you have to pay £3 for, that not that many people actually read, versus it being somewhere for free? Not to mention you can hear the context in an audio format, and not have it manipulated like in text.
I smell season ticket renewals in the post shortly. As the motto on the Town's crest says 'Judge us by our deeds'. For someone who's kept a tight lip throughout a period of turmoil, on and off the pitch, it does smack of b/s to me.
We are fast approaching season ticket begging letter time, so it doesn't surprise me that it is now platitude time as well. Let the fans know that there have been mistakes and they will learn from them, that communication needs to be improved, etc. Funny isn't it how they admit faults just at the time they'll be wanting our money. To my mind they are still as distant as ever, might be an American thing. Or ignorance.
25 minutes in which he admitted to failures of communication and to errors of judgement but other than vague promises that plans were there to change things at Oakwell which require licencing I'm not sure we've been sent a message of hope. I'll probably renew my season ticket but it will be as a result of the social aspects, meeting mates in pubs in town and heading up to the ground, rather than the expectation of what will happen on and off the pitch at Oakwell.
I think Gally may have alluded to issues with creating a more permanent solution that can accommodate a larger number of people than the old Redfearn's Bar and is a more weatherproof solution than the current fanzone.
