Statement from the club intimated that Keiffer wanted a move and it was affecting the dressing room and morale .
I can see why that might be as theirs plenty of stories of footballers making a scene so the club would move them on and pocket large signing on fees, so tbh I don’t see why it’s so ludicrous .

Seems to me they actually DO release information to fans ......when it suits then. Im sorry i think the offer (as old gimmer suggests) was too good.

In a hypothetical world, let’s say Wigan offered £300k to Barnsley Football Club, but offered Moore even more money than they did. Should we have sold him so that he didn’t upset the dressing room?

My understanding was that Kieffer was very keen to move - he stated in an interview that he has outgrown us. I gather a transfer to Cardiff ended due to a failed medical so Wigan became probably his only option. I like the lad & wish he’d stayed but it’s a diffiybalance - keep a player to the contract or sell those who don’t want to be at the club

You're just going to accept it, its modern football not 1983. Did you hear the stories of Vaz Te and McIndoe from Patrick Crynes forum meetings? They would give you nightmares if you think being under contract matters much - they're like little kids when they dont get their own way.

As said a million times on here, it's not the sales that were the problem, it's the replacements.

The lads who forced moves in this thread have been replaced by low cost, low quality purchases.

    Lindsay - Diaby
    Pinnock - Anderson
    Moore - Schmidt

    That's the issue.

Good point @Fonzie and perhaps the point is that the replacements are not being bought soon enough. If you are to stick to this plan then perhaps the replacements need a year to bed in.

Nailed on, I also think it was the amount too, hopefully with longer contracts they have time to find the next generation and only have to replace gradually instead of wholesale.

Agree. They bought players for the future, we needed them for now. We would have got away with it in league 1, as we saw the strikers couldn't hit a barn door in that league.

But ultimately the club decides. Whether it’s 1903, 1983 or 2019.

Yes, you're right - they sell the player who doesn't want to be here, who's mind is elsewhere whilst an offer is on the table.

That's what we've done in the past.

Roberts, McDonald, Pinnock etc were all playing next to an established centre half.

Roberts had Mawson. Then McDonald had Roberts. Then Pinnock had McDonald. Diaby and Anderson were thrown in together at once.
