Evidently the EFL have found even more damning evidence against Sheff.Wednesday and there cheating charges.Gibson of Middlesbrough is pushing for the full 21 points deduction.
Heard rumours about them getting a split points deduction, 12 this season and 9 next. Might be because of separate charges?
Know what you mean but I’d settle for them getting 12 off. It’d put them right in the mix and in poor form too.
Id prefer a 21 point one this season - That would be one less relegation spot to worry about - 12 would put them into the mix but I suspect they would scrape enough points to ensure safery - That said I dont think we can expect any favours from the FA when such a massive club could suffer
If they are to lose 21 points it should all be this season. By breaking FFP they are cheating this season, so this season is where the punishment should be.
Like I say only good fans suffer the other ones who give it the big I am don’t care it’s just another weekend getting off their heads...
12 points would put them in the bottom 3, and they’ve not won in about 7/8 games. They’d be well and truly in the relegation battle.
Actually, the cheating was the season before last, as witnessed by their latest published accounts to July 2018.
I am not sure why everyone is assuming that Sheffield Wednesday will get a points deduction. When QPR were faced with the same offence, they were fined (see https://www.qpr.co.uk/news/club-news/qpr-settle-ffp-dispute-with-efl/ ). As I pointed out earlier today, the offence committed by Sheffield Wednesday relates back to season 2017/18. The composition of the Championship was different then, although Barnsley played in the Championship then as well. Nevertheless, the teams who benefited from a points deduction this season would be different from the teams affected by Wednesday's cheating. It makes a lot of sense to punish Wednesday, and indeed, their fine should exceed that of QPR, but it does not make sense to reward a different set of clubs to the ones affected by their actions.
I reckon the level of deceit is the major issue. They falsified accounts, and got someome to audit them which is illegal. I think the EFL will go for em. Rick parry being an ex accountant wont help em either
They are definitely guilty. Their guilt is not what I was questioning. I was simply debating whether their punishment would be via points deduction or fine.
