I Listened to the Rotherham manager whilst I was on my way home today on Radio Sheffield. Saying he'd never been to another club so welcoming. He got talking to some accrington fans that said that the club had given free season tickets to bury fans this season. ( Assume Bury season ticket holders) Absolute class if true. I have tried to search evidence of such an offer. But struggled. Over to you lot if you can find owt.
That is so nice I really hope it's TRUE. If we do get relegated I'm looking forward to this trip. Never ever been shown to my seat at a football match before!
Great little club. Was the best away day of last season by far. Friendly people, great fan zone. Good entertainment and decent priced alcohol.
I saw an article saying that Blackburn Rovers had given the Bury fans tickets and in Rugby League, Salford Red Devil's had given tickets to Bury and Bolton Wanderers football fans. Never see anything saying Accrington had done something similar.
Yes great little club. Put Fleetwood on a par. Notwithstanding the Barton shenanigans. After he arrived there. Pity they allow him to drag the clubs name down. After all the bad publicity he carries around him. I'm a bit bemused why they stand by him.
Probably because he’s on track to get them In play offs and potentially league above us next season Not that I like the scum bag but many players have done much worse and still manage to find another club to take them on
Can see what you mean but honestly in similar circumstances it wouldn’t mean anything to me I real terms. I’m a Barnsley fan first and foremost, these days not particularly interested in anything other than highlights of other games. If we went bust Rotherham or the Sheffield clubs offered me tickets I just wouldn’t have been interested.
Me same mate. Just think it is/was a lovey gesture. If true that is. Unless it concerns Barnsley I have little or no interest. When people talk about the players or going’s on at other clubs I haven’t a clue. Much different when I was younger and could name all the players of the top sides especially. Love Barnsley hate football.
I've been thinking about this and I might have taken them up on the offer, and put some money in their coffers for drinks and programmes until my team restablished itself.
If it wasn't Barnsley it would have to be a club I liked. I could watch Everton, Tottenham and Arsenal. They're the only other teams I look for results. Everton because growing up I used to kick a ball about with my mate Adam who is an Everton fan. He always for some reason called Neville Southall, Neviller Southall? He used to take the ball off me, knock me to the floor and run round shouting Neviller Southall. Then when he was shooting at me he was Tony Cottee. He just used to run round with the ball going Tony Cottee, Tony Cottee. My Dad is a Barnsley supporter but likes Tottenham so it's always amused me that my first football shirt was an Arsenal shirt. Much to his annoyance it stuck and I'd lean more towards Arsenal and supported them until my Dad took me to Oakwell. He tried getting me into Tottenham by buying me a Tottenham shirt but the bird had flown. However, I still follow their results and feel slightly sad when they get beat.
