Boro were poor though, really didnt threaten our goal. But who cares a wins a win and its these poor sides we need to beat to have any chance!
Our centre halves were immense today. They looked classy despite the wind and having to play with the Boro forwards in their pockets all game.
We’ve looked like a decent side all season to me. We’ve just made too many individual defensive mistakes. No need to panic in terms of our long term prospects in my opinion.
Boro were about the poorest side I've seen at Oakwell this season. They hardly bothered closing us down in midfield at all and we had loads of space to play in. Baehre must have thought it was his birthday. Having said that we wouldn't have beaten them a couple of months ago because we'd have managed to give them a goal or two and wouldn't have played with the confidence we showed today. I still think we'll need another 5 or 6 wins plus some draws to be safe as others around us win. Boro and Wednesday could drop into the bottom 3 though. A 10 point deduction for Wednesday would put them 4th bottom as it stands now and they're on a bad run, as are Boro.
I was talking about just this after the match....so, recently we have played wednesday, Brum, fulham and boro. In each game we have stated the opposition were poor....very poor in some cases. So either they have just decided to all be shocking when we played them.....or we have actually improved? For sure the last 2 games have been a huge improvement and its been great to see an improvement in our playing style. I was a bit nervous today, when i saw the line up (i thought the midfield looked lightweight) but we were great in terrible conditions. Everyone contributed and we thoroughly deserved the 3 points. Well done coach, well done players. Im looking forward to red rains look at that formation and trying to explain it....whatever it was....it worked and we played much the better football. Well done all....i can smile on saturday for the 2nd week running!
Why did it take so long to drop Anderson. Not like he was just going through a bad patch he’s been ***** all season. We kept saying if we cut out mistakes. Yet the guy making the most kept his place. No coincidence 2 clean sheets without him
I`ve enjoyed watching the young uns and they have given their all some not up to it, some still learning and others destined for better things one would hope. But if a couple of em are having bad days then that shows in the results along with some very poor mistakes that have cost us. At times we are a pleasure to watch.
Correct. Apart from PNE home and away, and Luton home, we haven’t ever looked looked out of place in the Championship. We’ve had poor games, as you do. But the thing that has cost us is the individual defensive mistakes which is to be expected with a new back 5 with no experience of the Championship. I do however think, that long term our squad with a year together and more Champ experience is decent enough to stay in the Championship. The question is, are the the last two wins a sign that we have turned the corner, or just a short term high - with normal service to resume next week.....
