I think if the culprit is found then the club need to come down hard and set an example by giving them a lifetime season ticket.
James McClean. Traumatised by events that happened in Londonderry many years before he was born. A tacit sympathiser of such people who murder journalists and are still committing atrocities. " “They have nothing in their whole imperial arsenal that can break the spirit of one Irishman who doesn’t want to be broken." said our Jimmy of some Middlesbrough fans who didn't like his refusal to wear a poppy on Remembrance Day. He is a Fenian and they hate the British and are still using the rhetoric of the past so I don't see why he should be upset when that sort of tribal hatred is reflected back at him. He loves the publicity, meanwhile playing over here and accepting wages. He should go back to the Irish League if he is so principled.
What about all the other clubs stoke play week in week out, they are surely thinking the way most of us think. The player himself doesn’t help himself with his insightives. To the crowd oh and **** off back to Ireland you self patronising lovely person.
Wasn't me. Punishment letters will be going out in 3 weeks with an early bird 20% off at the club shop
Who brought the charge against the football club.( The fa I assume) did the player complain to the authorities ?. Not condoning anything but the double standards of the fa know no bounds. Millwall 2019 fined £10k racist abuse . Chelsea fans using Nazi salutes and anti semitic songs. Racial abuse. 4/6 banned. Unless anyone can find owt else. I see no fines handed out. On this particular issue it's widely reported that we are not the only clubs fans that have abused this particular player on the same issue. Fine us. (Ok) But a bit of consistency wouldn't go amiss. Wednesday breaking ffp rules. Chansiri taking the efl on. Be interesting the outcome. On another note I know some of our fans can be aresholes. But on the other side of the coin they were a credit at Fulham. When I spoke to a steward at half time at the Charlton game. I asked what all the commotion had been about beforehand. He replied one of our fans had used racist language against a black steward. He then went on to say. We had the most unruly fans they had to deal with attending the valley. Including last season.
Apparently the match officials who lodged a complaint, were not impressed with the remarks of Peter Clegg our Deputy Safety Officer re- " he's a professional footballer , he should be used to it by now". It begs the question, who should be fined, the Club or Peter Clegg.? https://www.independent.ie/sport/so...ectarian-abuse-of-james-mcclean-38978732.html
If they want to the club could enforce the rules and laws a hell of a lot more than they do and have done for years. I'd like to bet that most who were singing it are the same ones the club allowed to sing racist (regardless of our opinion it was reported as racist) songs about diaby on a weekly basis before this. Had that been stamped out perhaps people would have thought twice?
What have they actually done to stop it? The same faces who sang about diaby sang about the Stoke player and are still sat there each week. What action was taken? Because I've seen no reports of bans or even warnings
And that's why we got such a big fine. Because our deputy safety officer, a guy paid to do his best to stop this kind of thing essentially shrugged his shoulders and said "oh well" when the referee made the complaint. The club have then said "oh well" by refusing to discipline the high ranked employee. Lack of action and lack of taking it seriously is why we have got such a big fine compared to other clubs and frankly with the attitude and response reported by the club it's well deserved.
I do worry about the values of today's society. Having read that report I can understand a heavy fine which is for racial abuse and our lack of appropriate action, however, we have another incident where a policeman is seen hitting a lad on the head with a baton and he gets put on other duties while investigations take place. I would suggest that SYP are as guilty of inaction as BFC are. Suspension whilst under investigation would have been the appropriate action.
