Barnsley FC Charged With Supporter Misconduct Club News Barnsley Football Club has received a significant fine after being found guilty of breaching FA Rule E20 during the Sky Bet Championship fixture at Oakwell against Stoke City on 9th November 2019. Continue reading on the official site...
Even the fines are undiscosed now Still I hope the "supporters" who do what they want are pleased with themselves
Is this charge from the FA? Not defending what was sung that day but the chant in question I hear at every England game I go to. I wonder if the FA will fine themselves when it will no doubt be heard against Italy at the end of next month?
Absolutely ridiculous. What exactly could the club have done to prevent the chanting? It gets sung all over the country, even more so at England games as the other poster has said. BFC are an easy scapegoat.
Don't see how we can be fined even if guilty. The club can't be held responsible for fans say. All they can do is identify the person involved, ban them for life and try to get the fine back off them as it's the person in question who should pay any fine.
well we have been found guilty and given a fine whether you dont see how or not, and the club is held responsible. Whilst I think there is a double standard going on as pointed out by other posters the club cant evade responsibility for the behaviour of its fans inside the ground - no easy solution though short of lots more stewards and a banning policy for all offenders - might cut the gates a bit that one though
I don't think they ought to be fined in an ideal world but on the other side of the coin if you let clubs such as Millwall get off for their fans' behaviour what incentive is there for them to keep fans in check? Where do you draw the line?
The football club is responsible for the 'acts and omissions ' of it's fans. Those are the rules. Sadly we, like many other clubs, have our share of Muppets who are as thick as mince. The sooner these idiots understand the consequences of their stupidity the better. Unfortunately, we may be a while waiting. In the meantime it is futile to use the FAs double standards as an excuse for fans bad behaviour.
It's 20 grand less to spend on the next Bradley Ash, Shaun Tuton, Stefan Payne, Harry White or Mike Phenix.
One man's terrorist is another's freedom fighter. The British have poured money and resources into those they regard as freedom fighter all over the world, fans singing brainless chants about the IRA should go read a book - fat chance of course.
Yet another example of where you couldnt be any further wrong. Are Millwall not supposed to be held to account for what their fans did at Wembley or wherever they travel. It’s the clubs responsibility to make sure their fans behave. Of course individually we are responsible for our own actions but as a group we travel or behave on behalf of the club.
Away from the contents and subject matter it actually refers to in this post....I would ask given the present climate between us and the board is the title in question aptly titled and the FAs recognition of our woes at the hands of the CEO, Conway and co... It appears so lol Asking for a friend
Are the fa going to fine England fans next time same song sang at international game. Also the need to fine all other clubs over years as thus been happening years n not just at James McLean shows how inconsistent the fa also the efl actually are. On another how come Celtic fans never get punished for singing **** the poppy and the **** the queen
It's simply impossible for the club to guarantee that all supporters behave themselves. The club can introduce as many warnings and threats as it likes, and rightly it should, but we are talking about a small percentage of neanderthals who are beyond changing. It's not the clubs fault, they are doing the best they can to stop the chanting, the problem lies directly with the individual.
There is right and wrong in the world. Pointing out others wrong doing does not excuse the stupid antics of our 'so called' fans. The inequality shown by the FA, EFL, SFA & Prem is despicable, it doesn't mean what our fans get up to is acceptable.
I personally have no issue with the charges brought tbh the chanting was stupid ,immature etc etc . What I do have issue with is the double and in some cases no standards of the governing body. If these charges had been brought before a court of law it would have been thrown out because of unfairness and inconsistencies compatible to sanctions or lack of for the same offences at other grounds . A Barrister in a court of law imo would have this kicked out of court with warnings to the governing body to tighten up across the board . The Fa get away with discrimination of certain clubs as if said clubs appeal and use the law they will be targeted in other areas imo.
Not saying it's acceptable just making out this shows how inconsistent the fa efl sfa are when comes to punishing some clubs yet not others for same offence
