The country expressed concerns ref immigration, particularly by low skilled low paid eu immigrants here for the benefits, free healthcare and education. Whether you agree with the concerns is irrelevant, the country voted to leave the eu and take back our sovereignty which includes control of our borders. Howl at the moon all you want fella she’s delivering on what her party were voted in to do.
You might not agree that care workers should be unskilled but they are according to the Tory Govt - do you think they should be paid more than entry level nurses and teachers - or maybe should we make the minimim wage equivalent to £26k pa
What it means is those going into care having to pay more for their welfare... selling their homes using their savings to fund it...... Another attack on the working class... Yes you will soon be responsible for paying all for your parents health care not just part... similar to now but more expensive... Choke the social funding the system soon fails... Goes into private hands totally government goes... Look no comment we can't tell a private company what to pay we can only recommend.... Its coming folks... In all industries
I think they should be as skilled as entry level nurses and paid accordingly yes. For too long care workers have been cheap labour and you have to wonder what level of care is given and what level of training is received.
There is, but it won't happen. And in the meantime we won't be letting in immigrant nurses to continue propping up the NHS. So the tories can point to their immigration policies as a winner with the xenophobic/ignorant and play dumb whilst the NHS continues to go down the shitter and they intentionally steer it to the point where they can claim it's not fit for purpose and privatisation is the only answer.
One of the labour promises in their manifesto was up minimum wage to a tenner. This is the kind of lunacy that would contribute to either bankrupting the country, shoving prices up for the rest of us to an unaffordable level or firms immediately having to lay people off. I’m not the brightest but was it kirenskys Russia that experimented with this and it resulted in a massive recession.
If it was only that simple! Being telling the government that for about 9 years - nurses are 27% down in real terms.
That was exactly the same argument used against the introduction of the minimum wage, or every increase in it since. Can you tell me when we had the mass layoffs? Also, not sure you mean http://kirensky.ru/en unless it was a physics experiment in Russia...
There’s a huge shortage of nurses, thats well documented and has been for years. The salary needs to be more attractive in order to attract more applicants. Lets see if the tories honour their promises rather than deciding beforehand that the sky will fall in. I waited with bated breath on 31st January. It didnt.
Im even more confused. Immigration... I thought it wasn’t about that. irrespective of brexit it’s obvious you can’t see what’s happening, continue to be an apologist, glibly accepting whatever they do to you without even a question if it’s right. The level of starting wage set today (as has been pointed out to you) for teachers and nurses is less than the figure that has been published today. When your kids sell your house to pay care fees keep smiling. And just an aside, we always had sovereignty. If you fell for that I’m sure 350million is in its way to the NHS this week too.
Of course its about immigration, we’re discussing the salary element of the new immigration rules and their implications. ?? I really don't think you understand what sovereignty is if you can’t grasp that eu law applying here means that we don't have it. Think you may need to look up the definition, or maybe the only laws applicable are on food colourings
I like the way you just swipe under the carpet all the socio-economic implications of us raising the drawbridge.
B But we’re not raising the drawbridge are we, we’re filtering out the non English speaking, low skilled zero hours contracts fodder whilst forcing employers to pay better wages to attract the best candidates. Win win win for the country, our welfare state/ public services and the wages of the working man. How about looking for the positives instead of second guessing what disasters may befall us all the time.
