They approached him before hiring Daniel and continued to stay in touch with him. Is that any morally more acceptable than Stendel talking to Huddersfield?
They’ll also be in talks with some club in Vienna about Cauley Woodrow’s replacement as we speak. But agreed it probably isn’t.
Are you there tonight? Someone who is will need to clarify the context, but from what I've read and been told from people there it's nothing like how you've just described above.
No but the supporters trust tweeted this "Gerhard said he was in contact with BFC before Stendal was appointed but it wasn’t the right time. They stayed in touch and called me when the job came available - and right now I’m here" Which looks to me very much like they approached him then continued talking to him when Daniel was here and when he left they made a formal approach and he signed. Can't really see many other ways to read it?
Does it look like that though? Or do companies stay in touch with people they've interviewed all the time? It doesn't suggest they were speaking to him about replacing Stendel in the way you've described and so quickly jumped on
Yeah. And we appointed him straight away didn't we? There was no caretaker was there? Oh wait. Yet more spin from our lot.
It happens more often than you think in business and I don't doubt in football too. I don't think there is much to be concerned about.
I'm not overly concerned. I don't think it's illegal in any way but I think it's extremely hypocritical to absolutely slate Daniel Stendel for what he did whilst you're already in touch with his replacement.
Mate. Despite some of your rants I have you down as an intelligent guy. Whilst I hate that football clubs are now treated as full on businesses, football as an industry is a business. Staying in touch with someone doesn't mean speaking to them about work or employment and it happens all the time. I've stayed in touch with people I've interviewed before without ever offering them a job. It's just what commonly happens and I'm sure you've experienced that yourself.
You seem to think Struber was just sat around twiddling his thumbs, waiting for us to call. I don't think people take these decisions lightly or quickly. There would have been plenty to think about on both sides.
You're comparing the Head Coach saying he stayed in touch with the owners after turning down the job, with the allegations that Stendel spoke to another football club without permission and tried to convince his backroom team to leave with him, for a job he was then not actually offered. Ok ........
