if we get relegated - and there is a high risk that we will - then what then? I think Struber should and will retain his job. The owners will then cash in on players like Woodrow Brown Mowatt Most of that money will be ploughed back into the squad. Consequently we should have a much better equipped squad than what we had last season in Division 1. So as much as things look bad now - I firmly believe these owners will put things right. Looking at photographs of the brilliant support for the team yesterday - that’s support that’s traveled all that why through Storm Dennis to watch their team 9 points adrift at the bottom of the league - then the owners will surely take heart from that.
May I ask what makes you think that selling our best players Woodrow, mowatt and brown will improve our squad? Unless you believe that for the fee we will get for them minus £6m for relegation will enable us to buy better players than them?
I wouldn't raise your hopes too high that they will replace our best players. They will sign new players but whether they will be of the quality we need to get out of league one remains to be seen. Most of the money we get from selling our best players will be used to plug the financial black hole that being relegated will create.
He didn’t say that... he said they’d cash in on them. Then use the money to reinvest, and as such be in a better place than we were last time, not currently... Do you actually read anything anybody puts on here?
For fox sake, if they were the players then that they are now.... we wouldn’t have been able to get them. They are clearly able to play at championship level, therefore will easily get a club... back then they wouldn’t. I’m sorry I’m going to have to stop responding to your pompous posts. I can’t be assed on a Sunday morning. Have a good day pal, and argue with somebody else.
They will also get their money back for Wilks if he does the business at Hull and McCann doesn't get the sack. Come to think of it, there is quite a lot of uncertainty in that statement.
Yeah apparently by selling those three players this summer we will be better in league one next season than when we were last in league one but had the three he thinks we will sell.
Well judging how wev replaced other key players that have left i wouldnt be confident the reinvestment would be successful.
Your faith in the owners is touching. How about we actually keep our best players for once and give something back to the magnificent fans who travelled from far and wide to support the team yesterday?
There is no way our starting 11 would be better if we sold them 3 than last time, but it is feasible the squad could be better overall in depth. It will be very difficult to see where you would improve on Moore and Woodrow though.
How in the world is selling our prize 'assets' then replacing them with gambles from the spreadsheet putting us in a better place? Last time we were relegated we kept hold of our 'assets' We then sold them all once promotion was gained.
If we go down I'd be gobsmacked if Woodrow is with us next season. His quality of finishing was clearly Championship standard last season and he's proved it this campaign. Not sure how long his contract runs for but if it's less than two years he'll be going. Having said that that would be exactly the same scenario under every single Barnsley board in my lifetime and well before.
That’s the point. I don’t think these 3 players will want to drop into the 1st Division. So the owners will have no choice but to cash in. That money - which should be substantial - should enable the owners to readjust the squad e.g. centre backs.
I think Mowatt would want out. Brown may stay. Basically, as is always the case, anyone who receives a better deal is going to want away.
I like Mowatt but I’m not convinced there will be that much clamour for his signature if we go down. I could be wrong mind! I think Woodrow & Brown will definitely get sold if we get relegated, they will probably get life changing offers made to them so couldn’t blame them for pushing for a move
Maybe. But if a few leave, especially Woodrow, then that’s £££millions to reinvest in the club. We already have a team with relatively expensive young players. Bringing more in is going to create a very strong 1st Division team.
We’d claw back some of the £6 million with the relegation wage reductions like last time. Around the £2m mark.
