Undoubtedly the club/owners/recruitment team have made a real mess of the last 2 windows........wether you call it arrogance or just been naive I’m not quite sure. It makes me wonder if the summer transfer business was done in mind that we would probably go down? Why? The players that we signed was a big gamble for them to adapt and perform In the championship, whilst this season has been poor the experience the players will have gained will imo make them better players and a stronger unit for next season, obviously we’ll lose a few but on the whole we’ll keep the nucleus of the team and I think we’ll be in a stronger position. Back to the next transfer window.........this will be a real backs to the wall challenge for them to rein-gage with the fans and define what vision they have for Barnsley F.C, a think there views on age caps has done us a kipper at times when we’ve been crying out for a older head to calm the situation and they need to address this. A the saying goes ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’ and I’m more than willing to back them, we all make mistakes and this season has sadly been one of those scenarios!
I honestly don’t think the owners are bothered with reconnecting with the supporters. Probably more of the same silence, more euro-dross brought in when Woodrow, Mowatt, brown and Chaplin are flogged and more finger-crossing in the hope the next trawl of lower league European players unearth some cheaper talent to make money from. Clubs fooked.
Too late for them now, i dont think there is any way back. I agree that we all make mistakes but its the unwillingness to communicate and the total lack of trust which has ultimately caused their downfall.
They keep making the same mistakes and this will be the second relegation under their tenure. I don't think the next transfer window will define their ambition for the club, I believe that has already been defined.
I honestly don't know but I don't believe their ambition matches the fans. I don't believe they are sinister or wilfully damaging us, but i think they are unbelievably naive about football.
Mario I’ll not disagree one bit, a think they were on a hiding to nowt when they bought the club and people thought that their collective wealth would automatically mean we would splash the cash
I'm not so sure about the fiscal policy expectations. They made it clear that they didn't intend to bankroll us and I think most fans accepted that position. Where they fall woefully short is the running of the club - the transfer dealings, the communication, the implementation of a plan that everyone except them knew was doomed to failure. They've been here long enough now to be showing some improvement and in my opinion they aren't.
I don’t agree JD. They have already ‘defined themselves’. And it’s not good. Their boat has well and truly sailed. I’m not one who sees conspiracy or asset striping from the owners - little evidence of that. They just make the most incompetent, crass footballing decisions I’ve ever seen at the Club. Even when good things happen, it’s in spite of them, not because of them. I give you last January’s transfer window. Just look at the messages on this Board. We look like we might make the play offs, but with a bit of a push/investment, we could make the top two. The main problem is we only have two strikers, so if one gets injured (and there’s history) we’re in trouble. 20 minutes after the window closes, Moore gets crocked! As I say “in spite off, rather than because of.” If Conway can’t get a job in Trump’s new administration, I’ll eat my scarf.
I don't think for a minute, that the board planned for us to be relegated. They let our most valuable assets go , hoping that their replacements would be able to cut it in the Championship. Unfortunately reality has caught up with them and hopefully, they might have finally learned a very expensive lesson. Any data based system must have its flaws. Brentford for example let Alfie Mawson slip through their net. To my mind, you can't beat the tried and trusted traditional scouting system. Any experienced scout would be able to look at a player over a specific length of time and assess whether or not that player was up to the rigours of English league football. I don't know how we carry out our assessments, but however we are doing them, suggests that at the minute it is not working and we need to change tack. You can probably get away with risking young players in League One, but as confirmed twice now, you can't get away with it in the Championship.
Yes sadly. These charlatans who own the club aren’t giving me any reason whatsoever to be optimistic. Might perk up if they sell up and fook off mind.
Sounds like you had a really interesting train journey down. Or are you hiding away from all the kids...
For alleged succesful business men, i would say their actions have been very unprofessional. They have told us they wernt going to do anything reckless (not sure that was the phrase but you know which one i mean) and yet scatter gun rucruitment and then 6 months later a(hopeful) mass clear out as the squad is too big!!!!!! Their arrogance (at best naivety) was the way they treated the fans. They knew the league but they tried something (on the cheap) which has bombed. Very very unprofessional ..........not sure how many succesful businessmen out there refuse to listen and are inflexible in their approach to their busines but here we have a gang of them (not sure if a gang...is the right collective for business men btw!).
