Well.he needs to do a Stendel and tell us that. But if he tells them turn up in your kit tonight is anyone physically going to stop them playing?
I agree, but it was made known the board tried to move cavare, pinilos and thiam on this january. But for struber to come out and say they wont be involved is a very strange statement. All 3 had a big part in promotion last season and although they havent shone in the time theyve had this season, not many players have
Struber would be sacked the next day, assuming all these hypotheticals that came before this comment.
Maybe so but he'd still get paid. If I were him, knowing theres a relegation battle I would do everything possible not to blight my CV.
Three Head Coaches in a row haven’t picked these players. The clamour for Cavare from the fans during the first two months of the season was crazy and all Stendel said to us was ‘he’ll play when I can trust him’. He then showed he couldn’t be arsed with tracking back and has also made some questionable comments on Social Media. Thiam started the season in the squad but was given dogs abuse by the majority of fans for being rubbish. Short memories? I don’t think Pinnilos has fully recovered from the eye injury from last season or is trusted to cope with the pace of the Championship. Struber has said they don’t have it in training. I know things are rubbish right now but maybe it really is as simple as that? No conspiracy theory or anything?
Cavare can get down the channels, would have been perfect today even if he didnt play all game. We needed to attack from the off.
Everything you've written is true. But Pinillos and Cavare are still head and shoulders above the 2 kids who finished the game in their positions last night.
But right now are they? I didn't think the young lad played badly and actually did well covering both his own position and coming across when needed. Cavare wouldn't have done that, but he would have offered more going forward. However, if the attitude isn't right then it's irrelevant whether he's better or not. Pinnilos is undoubtedly a classier left back than Jordan Williams playing left back, on the ball at least But again, do we know what goes on day to day? If Pinnilos had played tonight he would have been ripped to shreds by Billingham big time, whereas I thought Williams did a decent job of keeping him relatively quiet after that blistering first 25 minutes.
We don't know what goes on day to day- that's the issue. We don't know why these 2 have been frozen out. And your point about Pinillos being ripped to shreds is hearsay at best. With regards to the right back position. We were at home. In a must win game. Against relatively poor opposition. With no width. Yet our best attacking right back is sat at home in his dressing gown because we aren't allowed to pick him.
He did OK. No worse than anyone else at any rate. But we were told he could play left back. He replaced our left back. But we put him at right back and moved one of our most consistent performers of the last couple of months out of his best position. Either he can't and the waffle we were sold when he arrived makes the signing even more perplexing or Struber is an even worse manager than I imagined, weakening the side by moving players out of position for no good reason.
How can you say suggesting Pinnilos would be ripped to shreds by Billingham is hearsay and then in the same post say that we're not allowed to pick Cavare? You say we don't know the reasons but both Stendel and Struber have been pretty consistent in their assessments of suggesting they're not good enough/can't be trusted. I wasn't impressed with Birmingham last night but I don't think we can claim anyone in this league is poor opposition. They haven't lost since New Year's Day have they? From looking over their shoulder to a late promotion charge
Fair points. What I should have said was based on previous evidence Pinillos has performed better at left back in this very division than Jordan Williams has. I would also more accurately state that Cavare offers a lot more going forward than all our current full backs, yet is not selected for 'some specific reason' And Birmingham seemed poor on viewing them last night, obviously they are better than us as backed up by league position - as you correctly say.
On Cavare, are we not right to assume that we’ve just had enough of his poor attitude? The fiasco with getting on the flight to Plymouth, rumours of training ground bust ups with his own players and with the head coach, opposition managers highlighting they target him because he doesn’t like to track back, plus the various tweets this season that are dubious at best. Completely agree with you when it comes to his ability going forward though. I would have considered playing him further up the pitch personally but now I’m just of the opinion that his Barnsley career has sailed.
All of this makes sense, I would add to it though that perhaps the club/Struber has decided to concentrate on developing players who will be here after this season for the long term good of the club. We can all agree or disagree on if it is good or bad for the club but would hazard that’s part of it.
Maybe so, and there's no smoke without fire. But. In a relegation battle, we need our best 11 footballers on the field. I think Cavare is our best right back (which isn't a great situation to be in, granted).
The fact is we're an average league 1 team now. These three have got promotion from league 1. Would it be madness to assume they're the type of player we would need next season (appreciate that if its an attitude thing they're best being got rid of)
