Absolutely. I'm rubbish and I mean rubbish at predicting football results as my Bet365 account would testify but I am confident that we will finish above Luton and Wigan. I also believe that we will catch Charlton if we carry on picking up points like we have recently.

Impossible not to be impressed by the turn around in results. We looked absolutely dead and buried. It's still going to take one hell of a effort to stay up, but we are well in the fight now.

There are many attributes required in order to be a Barnsley fan and yes, optimism is certainly one of them. In fact, I'd say it's essential. Here are some of the others:

    - the ability to enter a room with 4 other Reds fans to discuss an issue (football related or otherwise) and accept that, as you leave, there will be four different views emerging from the discussion.
    - recognizing from a very young age that, from the school playground to the day you die, you will get the piss ripped out of you for your choice of football club.
    - Learning to forgive the member of your family who first introduced you to supporting the Reds - for the sake of family unity.
    - A cricked neck. Formed over the years from checking your watch at Oakwell with ten minutes to go and realising we only hold a 2-0 lead, and it is unlikely to suffice for the three points.
    - Blind faith: in players, Managers, and Boards of Directors is quite useful.
    - A realisation, from an early age, that happiness is a vastly overrated concept.

To the 'new' football fan, these attributes might seem alien or if you are the mad keen Man Utd fan in Singapore you won't even recognise the tone and concept of these attributes. But what makes them necessary and ultimately worthwhile is when something truly wonderful happens. An event that only the 'select few' who are members of this merry band can understand. Things like Jacob Brown scoring a 92nd minute winner at Walsall in March 2019; or the Irish lad Paddy Schmidt popping up with a 94th minute winner at Mill**ll. It is these moments of shared understanding that make it all worthwhile.

The Soccer Saturday clip is, imho, the greatest piece of English football coverage of all time.

Le Tissier and Jeff are excellent but it is Phil Thompson’s reaction that makes it a thing of beauty.

When the ball hits his head it ends up in Row Z that's Kayode ( to the tune of Amore)

BUT not in that game. A real kick in the crutch for Terry and Co.
Radio Sheffields Paul Walker's commentary of that goal was absolutely mint.

Dead and buried 9 games ago and now we're 1 point away from safety and look to be on the march.

I loved Stendel being at this club and was gutted when he left. But as we've all witnessed, Barnsley FC moves on regardless and sometimes we move on to better times.

As long as we come through this window unscathed and with an improved starting 11 then i reckon we'll be comfortably safe by the time we play Brentford.

Trouble is folk were writing us off far too early in the season, with lots of games left to make amends and without giving these lads a chance to gel and learn, having said that another poor run could be just around the corner which could stick us back from where we came from.

Still a lot of twists and turns ahead. A few injuries to key players can screw any teams chances. That said, I can see us finishing above Wigan and Luton as neither seem to be turning it around.
Huddersfield, Derby, Stoke I doubt. Charlton have just been taken over and apparently have money to spend, so think they might stay up.
Hopefully Birmingham can keep losing matches.

I agree with this MHT.....ie the fact that folks were writing us off .......I just hope that if and when we hit a bad run of form that those same people lay off the lads with their negativity and undeserved criticism.
........whoo and there goes another green pig flying through the sky!!
