After the player sales of the summer I must admit I do not like the january transfer window. After just starting to get up a head of steam I do hope the board dont shoot themselves in the foot and sell the likes of Woodrow, Mowatt , Browny and Chaplin who are giving us a chance of staying up. Mass sales of the better players I feel contributed to our poor start to the campaign and change of headcoach and the ill feeling that followed. At least holding on to the better players til the summer would restore some faith in the board which I feel was lost after the sale of Lyndsey, Pinnock , Moore and DS. We shall see come Jan 31st anyway?
Don't spoil your Christmas worrying about it! I think Woodrow is most likely to leave as he's not scoring so many now he's in his new role. Having said that maybe just maybe the board will want to support Struber on his current run and get in some experience to backus up?
I think if, having given ourselves a realistic chance of stopping up, the board decide to cash in on any key players, the level of discontent among supporters would be such that they wouldn't be able to show their faces at Oakwell again without fearing for their personal safety. Not that I'd be advocating violence. But it's fair to say that a lot of people would be very, very angry.
Love the attitude of the team.....strongly dislike the attitude of the board. If theres an offer in for ANY of our players. ..that make a slight profit......they will be gone...but im actually trying not to think about it and try have a good xmas.
I believe they will bring players in but I also believe that if they get an 'acceptable' offer for any of our players they will sell. I don't believe they will change the plan or put it on hold just because we've won a few games. I hope I am wrong.
If our cycle continues and the plan is executed we have more chance of losing players than strengthening. Our recent history has been repeated very well last 3-4 years and i see no signals it will change.
The problem with the January window is that it benefits the spending clubs. I mean those willing to throw even more crazy money at player acquisitions in order to get promoted/stay up. I am expecting Middlesboro or Wigan or Stoke to throw some serious coin at it, whereas we won't. So I expect other teams to benefit more than us. Hope I'm wrong.
We've already had that one. This next one surely has to be the bestest and betterest window ever. Unless @Stahlrost can come up with a longer word for it.
I’m feeling quite optimistic. Given the recent improvement in form, I think the owners will back Struber with some cash. I can’t see us letting any of the first XI leave while we still have a chance of staying up.
Apologies I put this in a new thread but it might sit here... The last 2 wins and January....., Whilst being great for our league position must not mask the fact we’ve been rubbish for the majority and are still severely lacking the quality to remain in this league, it must not give an excuse to the board to think everything is ok and rosy. 3 defenders needed who are better and more experienced than the ones we have, a midfielder and another striker. that is all assuming no one from the current first 11 is sold. Merry Christmas!
After overdoing it with my vociferous onslaughts after THAT statement, I've decided to wait until 1st February before commenting further. Gives me more time to think of a suitable word...
Now you are thinking logically from a fans point of view but this board puts profit first . Was it logical to sell a record making defence when we were promoted to a higher division or BPotts when going for promotion in the last January window. I hope I am wrong but I get the feeling this board would sell the the turf off oakwell if somebody offered enough money. Hope I am wrong but lost total faith in them. We shall see.
