    That could be a turning point as I honestly think most locals couldn’t stomach voting Tory but would try and con themselves that Brexit aren’t Tories .

    Where is this from?

    They can’t stand down at this point, the final declarations for candidacy were weeks ago - and the ballot papers are all printed and ready.

    It's in Lincoln and you're right legally he cannot stand down and his name will still be on the ballot papers. If he wins then he becomes mp. I guess what he really means is "I'm going to halt my campaigning and try to convince people to instead vote for my competitor" rather than an actual withdrawal.

    He's a hypocrite anyway. He's a gay man who in his withdrawal letter slags off Corbyn and calls him homophobic whilst asking everyone to vote for the conservative candidate who has consistently voted against gay rights. You couldn't make it up

    Anyone who supports Karl McCartney in anyway deserves nothing, KM is a great example of everything wrong with a MP
