For what it's worth, I back their decision. I can't condone the way they've handled it with us fans however. Particularly not Conway's remarks to the Daily Mail before this appeared on the website.
Can fully understand the clubs stance if all this is true. And I’ve no reason to believe it’s not. Hopefully puts the vitriol to bed.
Club Statement Club News In light of the team’s current standing we would like to address the Barnsley football community. Continue reading on the official site...
The reasons they kept stum in this case was the legal ramifications. The daily mail issue regarding compensation had nothing to do with the sacking of Stendel. Just claiming what was well within their rights.
I understand that completely and don't disagree. I'm backing the board. But there has to have been a better way to deal with this publicly. It's been a PR disaster for them when it looks like they've done little wrong in actuality.
About bleeding time too, I fear it's come too late for folk though. No quotes from the board either. If what they say is true then fair enough it probably is worth him losing his job over. But there's two sides to every story, i'd like to hear Daniel's side one day too. I would guess that he feels he was lied to too regarding transfer policy. You have to ask yourself why would he have wanted to leave this club? Maybe he felt he wasn't backed, the vast majority on here felt that way. The last line winds me up the most though, "All recovered damages will be reinvested in the squad" I wish they'd stop saying this without backing it up.
Well, well, well. Are the Garrison refunding the drinks? This thread will attract half the replies though, not in their agenda.
We are fans and supporters. Stating the obvious I mean it would be pretty bad if it only took four games to not be fully behind them. I disagree about performances. I think it's just like under Stendel and Murray in us dominating chunks of games, not killing teams off and our frail and pathetic defence letting down the attacking half of our team. He got us promoted and instead of being signed to a new long term contract he probably felt unwanted with less than a year left on his contract and looking out for himself as he's entitled to do and as our board themselves can (if they chose not to offer him a new contract or offered him a bad one). If you aren't going to tell us these numerous other issues, then don't mention them in the first place. It just adds to more guess work and gossip. Why not Mr Stern and Mr Tonge? If we got shut of them then there shouldn't be any compo because they would be free agents. If we just wanted them away from Oakwell but kept them under contract then questions should be asked as to why we would waste our budget to pay people to do nothing. The article looks badly laid out and i'm sure someone on here will be along soon to add their thoughts as official website articles regularly get called out for the punctuation, spelling and grammar. Why is it signed off as the name of our club? Why won't whoever wrote it put their name to it? Who's telling us the statement?
In all seriousness there is sometimes the opportunity to be right or do the right thing. The two things are not the same.
So he was tapped by another club and entered into talks with them...bit like the players do all the time. Unsavoury but not uncommon, think they have made more of this than meets the eye. Id love to hear his side of the story. Its also not what i was informed.
I fully understand the stance of the Club and support it. What the Board need to ask themselves is why did Stendel get so disillusioned that he was prepared to join fellow strugglers Huddersfield Town?
