I think if you asked 99.9% of people what season they have enjoyed the most- last season or the season before that, or the first part of this season... they're going to say last season. Last season won't be repeated if we go down this time though in my opinion. The squad is much weaker. The strategy will soon become boring/ frustrating with fans and it already has from reading the overwhelming views on here. People will give up if we become a pure money making exercise. I think most fans just want to see us being sustainable but with some ambition too. By all means focus on youth but not entirely. Have at least 3-4 players aged 25 and above in the first team. And only sell when absolutely necessary to balance the books. I'd be happy with wherever that leaves us, knowing that we have done everything in our means to give it our best shot.
Those same owners have claimed that our costs have bizarrely risen by so much since promotion that the £6m was spent on overheads.
The relegation phase of the plan is a consequence of the other elements of the plan. We're relegated as a result of it, not necessarily by design. I wouldn't say they actually want us to be relegated but their refusal to adjust the plan according to the division we're in makes me believe they accept it.
I still think we will make it, think having got promoted you would have to be pretty thick not to deviate from the plan short term in January and plug the gaps. A half decent defence and a bit of experience and we would get to safety
Without Woodrow and Mowatt..I think we'll be bang average. Because they'll not do another season L1.. Also if Chaplin keeps up his current form he'll be hard to keep hold off.
Definitely the last 19 years since we got to the 2000 playoff final. With the exception of one 'comfortable' end of season under Robins, we've been either scraping survival or getting relegated most seasons at this level. All about money unfortunately. It seems that clubs with smaller and similar gates are prepared to run at a loss. I'm not suggesting we do the same, but I don't see our current plan improving us either.
but when the best assets are sold off and we bring in a crop of kids from the Uni-bond league, then I am not so sure about that RH.
Agree with this. January could be a real watershed for this club. I don’t think anyone thinks from a football perspective the club haven’t made an error of judgement in the Summer, some have condemned the board and likened them to the Devil already, others are willing to give them the benefit of doubt and wait to see what happens in Jan. In short if they sell players like CW/AM and or don’t buy players to give us a chance, they will lose all hope of rescuing the fans.
