I saw a drop in confidence and a bit of heart in the second half, losing another poor goal after all the hard work they put in definitely had an affect on them.
And if they go - exactly who is going to come in and keep this football club going? Who is willing to invest millions in a business that is definitely risky and where investing in highly paid players doesn't always bring success. There has been a plan - which many fans don't like - of developing younger players with added value. This is proving right now to be difficult to work in the Championship - so it needs looking at. What are the options - spend big money in the January window for some experienced, higher class players who will want big contracts and wages to come to a place like Barnsley and who might get injured in their first game, and who can't guarantee success. Let us not forget that we lost Adam Davies, Ethan Pinnock, Liam Lindsay, Kiefer Moore, Brad Potts - NOT because we wanted to sell them on, but because they turned down new contract offers or expressed a desire to leave. How was that the Board's fault. We replaced them with inexperienced but promising players who are finding it tough. There is also some dead wood that needs trimming - Cavare, Pinillos on big contracts. The board have paid out quite big money for a new coach - who I hope will be able to improve things, though many people on here expect him to work miracles in less than a week. Maybe we are a League One club....
I’m struggling to see how they’ve really lined there pockets yet to be honest, I’m either missing something or a lot of people are getting there pants in a twist
They’ve not invested any money into this club, they’ve sold our most valuable assets and then not spent the all of the income back into the squad like they said they would?
Watch the goal. When the ball is played through Fletcher is just a couple of yards further up field than two Barnsley midfield players. When he receives the ball they're 30 yards behind him. That to me is a lack of effort. Cavare made a bad error, but our midfield couldn't be bothered to track back.
Honest question, do you think Anderson’s positioning is also bad for the goal because he’s too far away from Fletcher or is it fair enough because he didn’t expect Cavare to lose the ball there? I can’t decide myself. Where is the other centre back in all of it?
The screenshots you’ve put on are pretty damning. They’ve both got at least 10 yard on Williams in the first one and by the second one Williams has passed both.
And yet there's no lack of effort apparently. There is. I have no love for this board, they are in the process of destroying our club. And I realise the players have basically been thrown to the lions but they're being given a free pass, as though they have no responsibility for this predicament at all. They have, and it's not just not being good enough, it's not doing their job.
Wilf Zaha said publicly he wanted to leave Crystal Palace last transfer window. The club said he wasn’t for sale and he’s still there. Just sayin’.
Agree, watch him closely after the player nips the ball off him for their goal. Telling to his effort in comparison to say Ben Williams.
They understandably stop running back full pelt when they see Cavare with the ball, with his back in front of the Boro player, supposedly in control. It was another suicidal mistake. .
Of course that's the board's fault. They run everything at the club, they're the highest authority at the club. If something goes wrong, it's obviously their fault.
Thanks for that. So it’s Mowatt and Bahre who lacked effort. At least now we know who you are blaming.
