,,,,and I know loads on here will criticise this post simply because it is, in fact, the Labour Party, but anyone who actually believes the manifesto they have presented is remotely credible and deliverable (I genuinely wish it was) must be totally deluded. I would say the same whichever party put it forward. I have seen more credible 'wish lists' on letters to Santa!
Let's give it a go then. If even some of it is delivered ( and everyone knows you don't get everything you ask Santa for) it will be better than what we have currently.
‘Remotely credible’ you sound like ‘mainstream news’ Of course it’s credible. Whatever the Labour Manifesto contained it was always going to be lambasted. I like it, I wouldn’t even mind paying a little more in contributions towards it. Get that housing programme going with jobs it will bring. Beats the fekin Tory and ConDem austerity we have endured and continue to do so.
All parties tell porkies and never ever carry out a lot of their promises Corbyn is in cuckoo land. The Tories always pull their money out of the country . So going after the mega rich always fails He will stifle growth and investment by companies, particularly those he Nationalises He will finish up with a massive deficit and we the taxpayers will have to fund it
I would agree that I'd like to live in JCs world. Hell, I even voted for him last time. BUT, two big flaws in doing all he wants. Firstly, he can't up taxes on business if we stay in the EU. They can incorporate anywhere in the EU. The tech companies have a sweetheart deal from the EU to pay 6.5% tax if they are incorporated in Luxembourg. Not a dammed thing a UK government can do. The ones that are still here are going to scarper like rats if we have a near 50% rise in corporation tax and the tech companies will avoid us like the plague. Second, a fiscal stimulus like this hasn't been seen outside of Roosevelt's new deal, couple it with a needed increase in money supply and you've got a massive rise in inflation. The public sector wage increases will be eaten by that very quickly.
Oh look here we go again with the person who doesn’t even live here. The Tories have been amazing for us over the last years though right?
Forgot He has never had the pressure on him that a PM s job carries. Doubt he is fit enough to complete 5 years
I was watching Question Time and then I switched to Channel 5 to watch 'Good Guide to Kinky Sex' - best thing I've done all day!
Maybe so, but unlike others, I guess he wouldn’t have to be dragged from office kicking and screaming, he would simply pass on the baton.
Corporation tax is already much higher in Germany and France (not sure about others) than here I believe.
Yes but JC is going to hike them much higher. It is one of those taxes where, up to a point, reductions in the headline rate increase the tax take. Better ways of clawing some money back for the workers, take someone like Amazon (s.a.r.l.). Pay tax at 6.5% in Luxembourg thanks to EU. If we stay we can't do owt about that. Why not outlaw zero hours contracts so the workers get a fair wage, (can get a mortgage) and claw some money back that way.
No worries , same was said about NHS and the council house programme after the war . Liads ridiculed and said it couldn’t be done . They also nationalised the coal mines and railways paving the way for safer working practices . Radical changes always get a bad press especially from the rich who rely on them fir their riches . I
Now I'm no expert on the opening poster's personal thoughts/theories regarding his/her political/economic tendencies but I suspect he was one of the 'minimum wage will cost jobs, thousands of jobs' brigade.
Evening Marlon, two big differences though. Firstly our economy had been on a war footing and the end of that left an awful lot of slack in the economy, particularly in labour supply which could be taken up wihout creating inflationary pressure. Secondly we could dictate our tax affairs to fund it and regulate the economy if it overheated. We now face competition on corporation taxation if we up it too much. Like I say, end zero hours contracts and think creatively about how we can actually claw back some big business money, not just play to the gallery sayng we are going to tax it, that doesnt work in the 21st century.
They said then it couldn’t be done fir whatever reasons . They’re saying now it can’t be done but fact is it’s being costed and the arguments as the one your using were similar to the ones then . The fact they said it couldn’t be done and it was stands up to the arguments today it can be done .
No he isn’t... the proposal is to increase it to what it was before Tories reduced it and therefore still lower than Germany and France.
To all the working people who still have to claim benefits, all of you who have the pleasure of visiting food banks. To all the disabled people who have had their benefits slashed and all you that are waiting in a corridor on a trolley in hospital. To all the people who’s lives, financial security and in some cases their families were decimated in 80’s & 90’s,,,,Remember what you read on this forum about Jeremy Corbyn and remember who who wrote it, because if the tories get back in with a majority,,, you may just want to drop them a line or two to thank them.
