Diabetes is a disease, not a lifestyle choice.

Yes, carbs in bread are fantastic for diabetes as they release energy slowly and so keep blood sugar levels steady.

Presuming you were actually trying to have a dig... I eat all those foods on a regular basis and am closer to underweight than overweight. Carbs aren’t the devil.

Never knew that. Always told that eating bread will make me fat because of the carbs, is that true or is that wrong too? Every day's a school day for me

If you eat 20 loaves a day you'll be overweight. I guarantee it

Excellent news this, tarn will have a fantastic multicultural, cosmopolitan feel to it in no time.

Do they still sell pork pies and black pudding anywhere? :D

Well, as I’ve mentioned on here, my mam is type 1 diabetic. She barely eats anything as she’s tiny but she eats exactly 40g of carbs with each meal and they are always slow release carbs (e.g. bread, potatoes, digestive biscuits, pasta). She then staves off hunger by adding meat and vegetables. She eats meals exactly 4 and a half hours apart with roughly a 20g snack every 2 hours (slightly more or less depending on blood sugar levels). She’s done this every day since 17 years old. Bare in mind she’s only 5ft 2 so she doesn’t exactly need a lot and she’s also always been leaning closer to underweight. An adult male should eat around 225-325g of carbs per day.

Diabetes1 is a low insulin condition.
Diabetes 2 and prediabetes are a high insulin conditions and are are carbohydrate intolerant.
They need different approaches with a reduction in carbs being helpful to both 2
    and pre conditions.

Does she have a pump or she's still on injections? My mum has been Type 1 since she was 11. She's now 66. Getting a pump around 15 years ago I think was absolutely life-changing for her.

Still injections, she was still on one a day until recently which is incredibly restrictive in terms of timings and amounts of food. She resisted and resisted moving to the pen but although she now has a little more flexibility she doesn’t take advantage of it as she’s stuck in her ways. Getting her to change again to something new won’t ever happen.
