Still going ahead in spite of the rising river, which is already at bank level.. I've been to this event before. Thousands of kids all rushing around in the dark, trying to get to front of stage. When I went, the queue was right next to the river. The roads around Meadowhall are currently gridlocked due to flooding. This photo was taken earlier this afternoon. Can't believe it's still on.
Jordan North presenting it who's a cracking DJ. Fills in on Radio 1 and has a Sunday morning show 10 till 1. Funny lad (gets listener messages calling him Gordon South). Huge Burnley fan who got barracked but Sheffield United fans last Sunday. Going to be worse for the lad in person. The line up of performers is a who's who of has beens unfortunately. My daughter wanted to go but has a show tonight. No way in a million years would I let her attend even if she had a ticket.
Sheffields a ghost town. Everyones ****** off soon as there was surface water. Meadowhallz going to be carnage. From the number just getting off the train and what you can see trafficwise. Given state of the weather the fact the dons about to blow youd be a special type of moron to go there tonight.
No surprise considering Huddersfield to Sheffield trains both ways are cancelled until further notice and many will have relied on that especially to get home.
As predicted chaos coming away from.lights switch on. And on a lighter note connor spooner (@connorspooner11) Tweeted: Little crack heads on rob tonight will be classed as ******* pirates in this weather #floods
Young un works there and was told by police to stay in there, she ignored them and got the next train home...
Absolute scandal that it was cancelled so late. Event organisers waiting for intervention from others so they don't have to pay refunds?? It was obvious that the river was going to rise. Organisers chancing it.
totally agree - weather forecasts are accurate and the 'water people' could work out how high the Don would rise and when that would happen.
I've every empathy with anyone stuck in it. I was stuck in the last bad flood there, stuck at wicker arches when the banks of the river burst and policemen were running down the road shouting for people to abandon cars. I'd rung the missus to book a hotel somewhere in the centre and had to try and find a way from the short distance wicker and the hotel of the main roundabout off the parkway. The highlight was being waste deep in water crossing a road behind the ford dealership being helped across a road by a human chain! Certainly memorable!
Not really if you underatand how well prepared around medowhell is theses days for floods... Now the ones taken at 10pm were a bit more scarier.
I'm really worried abart mi Wife an all this rain, for last 2 weeks since it started, she seems really depressed, we've had strong, cold, winds blowing lately wi ice forming on the windows. She just stands shaking and looks scared, i'm sure shes got depression. If it continues i might av to let her back in.
