Because they're limited talents and both they and the agent know this and grab the coins when they're presented. We'd be fuming if we'd paid circa £4million for a striker and he'd got 0 goals in 11 games.
Well, some say it was half that. But still, to not score in 11 appearances at this level as a striker, it isn't great. Schmidt has played about 40 minutes in three sub apps and the bbs already reckons he's dogshit.
I’m meaning originally when they’re signed. Heckingbottom spoke about it previously when he said that we need to change this impression that they all have of us as a selling club as players are just coming here & thinking I’ll get a good move after a decent year at Barnsley & the club allow it. This is a problem with our approach, we aren’t signing players who are local lads or who have ties to the area. We’re just signing young players who are from all over & then act surprised when they’re after a move back down south or wherever
Sad that the last few owners have taken all the ambition and passion out of your support. Our current model is not a sporting one. No decisions are made solely for footballing reasons. We are just an investment vehicle designed to make rich people richer. it’s beyond ridiculous to suggest we cannot recruit championship level experienced players given that both Charlton and Luton have managed to do so. It’s beyond ridiculous to suggest you cannot hold a layer to a contract of course you can. I admire your optimism though given how you are expressed it there is no reason to think we can achieve even lower mid table championship level football. When we get relegated this time I don’t see us bouncing back but going backward.
DON'T MENTION PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT IN REGARDS TO OAKWELL!!! I mentioned I can't count how many posters mentioned the fact that Moore was a gamble for a team in the Championship, as he has no record at that level, also how many posters reckoned that at Lg 1 level, he needed 7 or 8 chances to score 1 goal. It's hard to disagree with any of that really, although I would say that he would offer a different dimension up front for us, but I think you've got to accept that he wouldn't have set the place on fire with his goal return.
Seem to recall people on here making comments about his goals to chances ratio when we signed him in the Championship as well, open goal/ header at Leeds one example if I recall correctly.
