Thought the Lads tonite deserved this bump. Well organised again with the attitude and ability to continue to prove their many doubters wrong. well done boys!!!!
Well organised and plenty of effort, but still only one point. Still not convinced they've got enough to stay in this division...
I think we have on the basis of games v Leeds, Derby, Swansea and tonite. also Fulham of course. said it before we need to be patient and let this group grow together. with already improved organisation they have demonstrated they can perform against the best in the league. for too long on this board these lads have been at best underestimated. Adam Murray has without doubt made a difference.
Surely the problem rests squarely in game management. The inability to express the same rigid structure and to provide attacking movements as mechanically as other teams in this league (I do understand that we don't necessarily have the talent or squad to do this) is our fault here. However, I am delighted with the result achieved from the Swansea and the West Brom games, offer me a draw in either game and I would rip your hand off emphatically. This shows progress. Not transformative progress but progress nonetheless.
This is the real point. An injury to Woodrow, or his departure in January & where are the goals coming from? Great effort from the lads. Good organisation from Murray. Still bottom of the table sadly.
I hate using the word massive, but the Huddersfield game already looks massive. In fact, it's so massive that it's massively massive. A win and I might start thinking that we have a chance. A defeat and it'll all look black again.
I can't see Cauley being here come February. He's our main asset and these owners thrive on selling the next asset. I suspect he'll go for about £4-5m.... a good half of his value citing that he wanted to go and with reluctance we acquiesced. Obviously at that stage we'll buy another foetus and we'll go down with a whimper. One of the few players I could see us keeping is Mowatt, but I'm sure he'll be attracting admiring glances and the owners don't want to retain players despite their cheap words. Verisimiltude. the illusion of truth.
It doesn't matter. Think of it as a beauty display. Thats all the owners consider it to be. 90 minutes to hope their players become more valuable and catch an onlooking scouts lecherous eye.
Wow, reight neight enjoyed it, thought we were gunna loose it at end, brilliant, effort levels awesome, all the guys were literally crawling off the pitch, nar if they put that kind of effort in, win, loose or draw, wot more could thar ask of the lads. BRILLIANT NEIGHT, PERFORMANCE, WOW. Beat Fulham, outplayed Leeds an lost, drew wi West Brom. WHY, are we struggling.
It’ll be madness if they sell him in January when he’s got plenty of time on his contract & we need his goals. Although I said the same last January with Potts so who knows
The model is to sell. There isn't much to sell at the minute other than Woodrow and Mowatt. Of course its madness. Madness that repeats with startling regularity.
The greatest surprise i'll have is if Cauley Woodrow is a Barnsley player come 1st February. He's had so little created for him and he's the only player with more than 1 goal for us and among the top scorers in the division. He scores all sorts of goals, often creating them himself and he's scored some wonder goals. He's young, he works hard, he's a great lad. There will already be plenty of interest I have no doubt. We can't pay the wages of a £10m striker (obviously we'll get about a 3rd to half of that) and i'd be surprised if in private moves weren't already taking place. The owners have shown that when a player "wants" to move... contract length still doesn't influence them to say no
If we sell him next summer, fine. In January and fighting to stay up? That'll convince me that yourself and others are right about the ownership.
My view of the owners is that they need to be subjected to scrutiny. Everyone can make their own minds up as time evolves. Until they apologise for their disgusting behaviour and contempt for the fans and give the proper level of credit to someone who deserved it, i'll not be attending a game or doing anything that puts money in their pockets. I could easily have pressed the red button and watched the game last night. That I didn't is the most telling inaction.
