I know nowt about Sheffield uniteds spending. I agreed with the rest though. None of us are wrong about wanting to put the team before the balance sheet. It's the team we all pay to watch.
I agree 100%. But doing down these young players giving everything for Barnsley, is the exact opposite of the moaning I've seen over the years - about Cant Be Ars$d loanees with their bad attitudes and gold digging has-beens and their know-it-all demeanour - it seems like we have in Chaplin, Diaby, Sibbick - 3 players which in the past fans would be very excited about - that now we just don;t care about because they;re not Neil Redfearn all of a sudden,
Then don't agree with someone saying they didn't spend any money more than us to get in the premiership when clearly they did.
But no one is doing down these players. If that's what you think, you've wasted a full evening of pointless arguing, Most of us are suggesting giving them a bit of help. Not spending silly money and not bringing in half a dozen loanees. Same as your point about selling players. We can handle that. It's what we do to soften the blow that counts.
I'm not the one who brought up Burnley, I'm merely pointing out they spent a lot of money to get out of the Championship in reply to the question, which implied like Sheff Utd, they used JuJu.
Yes they are, yes you are. If you don't want to admit it fair enough - but by implication, everyone writing off this team is saying they are not good enough,
that’s not at all what I said. I said they did not overspend to achieve success where your view is that everyone who achieves success overspends. They operated within their means but within that prioritised in field success. I would like us to operate within our means but to make decisions which maximise on field success within the budget. These decisions should not always be about future financial gain they should strike a balance between that and on field success. It’s not such a hard concept to grasp but you seem spectacularly incapable of doing so.
on current performances and results they are not good enough. A glance at the league table will tell you that. That doesn’t mean we don’t support the team or hope that the players we have will become great players. It’s just a rational analysis of the situation. Unless you are suggesting that being bottom of the table and winning 1 if 12 games demonstrates success.
Living within the turnover of Sheffield United only applies to Sheffield United- I am not the one who started that comparison, You are just agreeing with my point - living within the means of Sheffield United has no relevance to us, well done. Who is incapable of understanding that concept?
I am saying that we don’t prioritise or make decisions based on on field success and they do. Can you really not grasp the difference between that and me saying that we should ape Sheffield United. I was not making a comparison just stating there are different methods of doing things where your view is that there is not and that every team either spends daft money or employs an U13 team when clearly that is not the case. We are the exception not the rule.
This is what he said 'Sheffield United just got promoted spending very little and living within their means signing players onfield success rather than financial gain.' He clearly didn't say anything to compare them to us, but what they did spend was dwarfed by other clubs that reach the premier league, so he makes a valid point. The bit I really agreed with was onfield success rather than financial gain, although I'd settle for both.
which was of course the point. You could choose any of Warnocks practical sides that gain promotion based solely on on field success as their aim an alternative example.
I get that we've wondered around this, so lets get back to some objective truths Do you agree that Sheffield United spent about twice as much money as Barnsley last season on Wages?
Na, you're completely wrong. You're just assuming stuff now to suit your argument. I love the players, they give their all in every game, but they've not won in a dozen games, losing 8. There is nothing else to say really.
