I wish I'd gone now but I genuinely didn't think he would be there. Seeing the videos and reading the posts just reinforces my views about our owners. I'm still angry about the way our club is being run and the way Daniel has been treated.
I also never thought he wouldn't turn up, but he has had time for every single fan, photo, autograph,facetime...whatever you want to mention he's done it...what a legend
To be honest I never doubted he’d turn up. It’s the way he was at the beginning in his Germany shirt in the Garrison during the WC and the way he still is today when he said his farewells. Be great if he could return at some time in the future in better circumstances but unfortunately it’s unlikely to happen. All the best Dan...
Crazy times. Club owned by Chinese and American backers gets dogs grief, whilst in the middle of a Brexit a German manager gets a hero's send off with fans wanting him to stay.
I still can't believe he showed up. It must have been a hugely emotional difficult evening for him. Bitter sweet. But I now hope he realises the affection he's widely held in. I don't think we'll ever see such a thing ever again. And that's very much down to the honesty and absolute decency of the man. I've never seen any of our managers have the same openness and honesty in interviews of Daniel and not use any politics or have any side or agenda. Some of that may have been down to his knowledge of the language, but i've found his interviews a breath of fresh air and so refreshing rather than the usual embattled managers hunkering down thinking the reporters are trying to trip them up. Have interview, answer questions, just that. I wonder if the journalists have a positive view of him too? Just a thoroughly decent man of honour and I'm still gutted at what the owners have done and how they've done it. I'm not sure I have the capacity for that to change any time soon.
Unless hes got his if and when the wrong way round but I think his English has improved since he was first in the Garrison! Is that 7/1 bet as of now?
TBH, I find it hard to believe he would say that in such an environment, before anything was announced. That’s why I was asking RH if she heard it first hand as if she said yes then I would believe it.
Can remember last year the game before christmas after the match Stendel went into the media room with a crate of beer for everyone inside and wished them a Merry Christmas. I reckon that and with the way it's all been reported means he had a good standing with most of the media.
Thanks everyone for posting those videos and for those of you who went down and raised a glass with our gaffer. What a brilliant send off. Even if the club have burned their bridges with him, he'll always be loved by the fans.
