I would have thought that by now, the statement would have either been removed, or replaced with a more comprehensive version. It's been there for about 12 hours, during which time there's been uproar in the town and all over social media about it. If I'd have posted it, by now I'd have realised (or been told!) that I'd been rather unwise, and I'd have deleted it as a damage limitation exercise. And I'd have asked my media team to write another one, sharpish. To me, that statement simply advertises the fact that the owners in general, and the writer of the statement in particular, don't understand what the football club means to us all. They've made a big mistake, but maybe there's still time to reflect and print an explanation and an apology? I don't see it though, but you never know. Anyway, it will be interesting to see what the atmosphere is like at the Swansea match.
I sent the "statement" to a friend who is a Leicester fan. Her simple reply. "That's disgusting. Really" when I told her about the court case coming up. "Wow. That’s unbelievable, I take it they won’t be giving Stendel any support now, pretty low." Always nice to get external perception that has less close emotion and bias attached.
I suspect YT knows how the fans are feeling but has been told exactly what to put out, despite any protestations
I’m sure, but on the other hand he was on here being hugely dismissive at the start of the season when people were voicing concerns about the transfer policy...
I hope they don't release another statement flattering Daniel and showing him thanks. If they do it won't look genuine and it will feel forced due to public opinion.
Showed it to my manager(?) at work. Not sure what he is really. Mentor I guess, most intelligent guy I've ever met. He just looked at me speachless. It's moronic. I work in product management. If someone at our place had put out that statement then we'd talk to them. If they were having a bad day, if they were struggling, if they apologised for making a mistake, we'd support them and quickly put things right. It wouldn't have been on our website for more than 2 minutes. If they continued to claim it was right we wouldn't be able to employ them anymore.
We've all seen enough of Whitey's posts and work over the months and years to know that is certainly not his style. And certainly won't be his words either.
I asked this earlier without reply, but where has he gone? It’s more than many games ago. Not seen a post of his in a long while. I will also add that it’s unfair if even our media staff such as he are getting stick.
Agreed, I don't think anyone blames the club's great media team. In situations like this they just have to do what they're told, or walk out. It's obviously not the media team's work. I just wish that whoever wrote it could be separated from our club. For ever.
He’s given up with the BBS. Far too many people who didn’t agree with him took it upon themselves to make things personal as he is ‘in the public eye’
Last time I saw him he snogged me in Opium. That was pretty personal. Although that might have been the other way around.
There can't have been a reason for that statement. It was a disgrace. As Jay said, it should have been removed within 2 minutes, not 24-48 hours. It's too late now, the damage has been done.
The statement is beyond childish and unprofessional. Damage done. As for Whitey, cut the lad some slack. No one in their right mind puts in written word, something that goes against the company line. He has a job to hold down. There are many times in my professional life I've not agreed with stuff, but sat there quietly, I'm sure alot of us have. My guess is that there are employees of BFC currently feeling as bad about things as we do.
