This was the guy who sat on the board of directors that knew people throughout the English football leagues.

The knowledge and links to people in football disappeared when Maurice left.
    Those links are invaluable.

These new owners have NOT got those important links.
The best thing James Cryne can do now is talk to Maurice (now retired?) to see if another person with similar knowledge can be found to become the director of football.

You are not going to believe this but........

    I agree with you.

A director of football is exactly what we need.

Not saying it has to be David Bassett for example but someone of that ilk.

The predicament we are in has nothing to do with the links we have to others in the footballing world. It is due to an extremely strict policy of signing young, inexperienced players who are then sold for profit, regardless of the consequences of our league position.

We are no longer in the loanee business so links are immaterial... no club is likely to give us mate's rates on sales either. A director of football may be useful if we were to do some decent loan deals but other than that I'm unsure of their value to us and our "plan".

Having someone to call that strategy out as flawed would make sense though providing the owners listen. They wouldnt listen to Daniel after all.

So you are saying - absence of links to people that have knowledge of the Championship has nothing to do with our predicament ???

I guess if you put it that way then having someone there might be of use, but James should have a decent enough idea by now?

It would but as you say they haven't listened to Stendel, so that would suggest that it is going to take something major for them to budge.

It looks like that seems to be the problem, it’s exactly what they don’t want.

They know best, the spreadsheet is never wrong. Any questions regarding the strategy and it seems it’s taken as an affront to their intelligence.

With Personality traits like that I’m surprised they are as successful in their other businesses? It always pays to listen to advice offered by people who have knowledge of your industry.

It’s bizarre, all it would have taken would have been a slight tweak - but they seem to have a complete stubborn bloody mindedness to carry on just to try and prove they are right and everyone else is wrong.

It’s like a gambler keep betting to win his money back despite being told the odds are not going to make it possible. They seem To have blind faith in the plan in its current form.

In fairness Nudger makes a point, having someone like Watkins on the Board would undoubtedly help. At the very least he knows how a Football club works and he talks their language, so would have the best opportunity to get them to reconsider.

That’s why it needs someone in place at board level.
And that person needs to be a well known person in football circles.

Currently we have a lack of English football knowledge at board level.
And it has to be said - that in Daniel there was a lack of Championship knowledge at the coaching level.
