And that we always had set ourselves up for this with the club's summer business? It's not too early to pass judgement anymore. It's clear we're desperately short and may be adrift by the time we can make signings in January. Criticism of the owners and their rash, disrespectful statements was justified when others defended them and now it certainly feels like we have been let down.
I can't defend this anymore, I'm definitely a "give it a chance" kind of fan but even I'm at the end my tether with this now. But, we are stuck with what we've got till January. Absolutely zero point moaning about it, unless someone has a time machine then harping on about the squad being ***** is wasted energy. January is where our season will be won or lost. In my book we need to get rid of at least 10 players (some are ones we only bought in the summer) and replace them with decent, proven championship quality players, this will mean breaking two of our most rigid policies, the wage structure and the age structure. We also desperately need to rebuff any offers for the likes of Mowatt and Woodrow. I'm confident we can stay up, but not with this squad and only if we break away from "the plan".
Yep I'm another that said see where we are 10 games in and it's a mess no mistake. That being said I lay no blame at the door of Herr Stendel and it's no fault of the players, they are simply not yet experienced enough for this level.
I wasn't at all surprised that we got stuffed today. I have felt its been coming for a while. Even back when we played the cup game the issues were on full show. Luton could have been a rout as could the Wednesday game. We look like a team who are much more likely to let in 3-4 than we do win 1-0. Given the age and experience this becomes a vicious circle and i only see it getting worse than better.
I'm sorry, but your confidence seems greatly misplaced as far as I can see. I said to a fellow supporter the other night that we'll be down by the end of November for all practical purposes. January will be irrelevant, other than us probably flogging the two players you mention (the excuse will be that we are re-building for a promotion challenge from League One and/or the players wanted to leave so how can we possibly stand in their way?). Utterly shameful.
True but I fear we could be too far adrift by then to attract the players needed, if we were even willing to sign what was needed, which I doubt.
There are SOME positives with some of the young players but after 10/11 games the stats are starting to speak for themselves. It is starting to look, already however, like a consolidation exercise in prep for next year. We'll see though....
I know, if you read my initial post I said we can survive if we ditch the age and wage restrictions. I don't think we will though.
No I wasn't arguing with you, it will depend on how many other teams struggle (I.e at least 3 others needed) but I fear we will but cut adrift this season.
Head told me during pre season we needed more experience. Heart said we'd smash the league with young uns who have potential. Lesson learned we're deep in the brown, and we need to get 3/4 experienced players in. Not just anyone they must want a challenge and want to be here, not just for a pay cheque. I agree with tweek to the plan of not taking loanees. Why waste money on uncertainty, they're either rubbish or that good they get called back.
