We sold our two center back last window, not just the comedy defending for the goal and the penalty the lack of communication between halme and William's falling into each other and before that Anderson and collins going for the same ball. Ben William's had a good game by the way not knocking him the others need to get their act together fast.
Anyone know if Cavare was injured or dropped again because for me he’s our best option at right back but never gets a run of games.
Didn’t go to the match. But what really showed last night - is that these players will fight to the end. If the spirit is still there then that’s a great sign. And when things on the field become more in tune then we should be able to move away from the bottom of the league.
I agree you cant fault the effort giving 100% all over the pitch. Individual errors cost us last night 2 by the same player basic stuff aswell. Frustrating thing is derby didnt look that good of a side.
Agree with that and I think that's why i'm concerned. We've faced a couple of sides that we could have put away, and others that are likely to be around us at seasons end. But we've not picked up points. I've got to admit I was impressed, maybe would have been proud if I felt connection to this new team, that they kept on going. They didn't look very threatening until Derby completely switched off at the corner, but they kept going. It would be very easy to hide and just entrench or be scared of playing. We shouldn't underestimate the individual and collective bravery that they are carrying on trying to play and do what they think is right. Much rather that than some of the fearful dross we've seen in past years of struggle. We've got 3 really hard fixtures coming now and I can see us still being on 6 points at the end of the month. Anything more, god forbid a win, would be an absolute bonus. I hope we can get points, I'm just not expectant.
The defence looked like it had never met last night. The first goal is the worst we've conceded for a while. Collins, Mowatt, Andersen and Ben Williams were all near enough to deal with it.
Still don’t think it was a pen for their second , thought our lad got a touch on the ball and theirs dived
I thought it was a stonewall pen at the time, then watched highlights suggest he may have got a touch. The problem was he went through the back of their player to get a touch on the ball, which you aren't allowed to do and in this day ad age will obviously trigger a fall. Compare to Wilks' continued diving where a hand rests on his shoulder and he collapses. Sadly it was a penalty, but stemmed from 2 players going for the same ball, where as before, no players went for a ball. Frustrating, but part of a very steep learning curve.
The ref didnt mid giving derby players free kicks all game for the exact same thing though. It was embarrassing how easy they were dropping. I don't think wilks was a pen last night although it's either a pen or wilks should be booked for diving, but against brentford it was a clear pen on wilks.
They were very bright last night, but that's surely a minimum requirement? They should all be fit as fleas and enthusiastic at their young ages. We shouldn't expect anything less. Problem is they're collectively not good enough. Despite continually shuffling the pack we've dropped 24 points from 30. Had we been anything like at the back, I'm sure we would have won. We can't defend the most routine situations. We're the architects of our own doom, relying on a late equaliser when we should have been celebrating a win against a bang average team.
I thought both were dives to be fair, but yes, the general level of diving is bad. Though Mowatt and Bahre aren't shy of a tumble from a slight tap. Totally ruined the game, but we're long beyond the point of no return. Cheating is entrenched, rewarded and often applauded by the plethora of pundits.
We look better with Bahre in the team. Don't know what he does and never notice him during matches. It's a conundrum. The teams just better with him in it. When Diaby and Dougall are fit can see us winning some matches.
Well said Durkar. Its the modern penalty judgement i'm afraid and personally I don't agree with it. Lawrence is I think it was sees the outstretched leg and falls over it. Whereas I think the tackle on Wilks was a more of penalty. Trouble is Wilks tried to stay up and then fell in a sort of delayed action response. Hopefully we will learn from this.
Cavare is injured. Played on Sunday as we had no one else so he played with the aid of an injection. I can see faults with the team but getting on the young lads backs constantly will not help in the slightest. I really hope you're all as good at your jobs as you expect these lads to be!!!
It’s interesting to think back to last season when Lindsay & Davies had that mix up in an away game on a Tuesday night & there were loads of posts about it & debates on who was more to blame for the error but it stood out because it was so rare. Last night alone there were four major mix ups by the back 4 of which two cost us goals. We were the better side last night but could’ve easily conceded 4 goals through our own errors. That’s what we’re up against with a new keeper & defence. There’s no quick fix either, the only way they’ll get better is with games, frustrating but there’s not a lot we can do
Said last night - Radlinger shouts a lot more than Collins for sure. That only helps defenders. Cavare pulled his leg last 10mins at Leeds. He was on the massage table prior to the Brentford game. I think it’s a case he’s not fully recovered from it - at least not enough to do Sun/Weds.
