TT - surprising how often you misread a post (not only mine) and then post an irrelevant reply!

no mention made of admin condoning anything, and I challenge you to actually highlight an abusive/insulting football thread.

But if these political threads which are always well contributed weren’t there it would be replaced by other threads which were dead and slid down the pages .
Whilst there are more threads than ever before on politics it is because of the important unprecedented issues which have affected the whole country .
So if it weren’t for political or other threads affecting reds fans then it would be replaced with dead threads imo which normally slide down the list when done to death .
The only time the threads are regularly replaced are matchdays or Transfer periods and the odd occasion of unusual happenings at well as eg the Joey Barton incident etc.
There’s more voted to stop these threads than actually contribute on here football or otherwise .

If people could behave like adults and be respectful then I would totally agree, but they can't and the threads are taking away from the original purpose of the board.

Perhaps if there were fewer political threads more people would come out of the woodwork and contribute. They don't paint many regulars in a good light do they?

There appears to be some sort of block on new members too, as we haven't had anyone sign up for over 3 months.

Tbh I’ve seen more abusive football related threads than political ones .
In fact I think there’s actually more members banned for football related abuse than political.
I can come in this board and ignore any thread I don’t want to get involved in even if it’s dubiously labelled a quick read will inform me I don’t wasn’t to get involved .
If someone tries to abuse or threaten I just put them on ignore which I believe thats what the facilities for.
I dont rely on someone being offended for me and if someone’s getting abuse if expect them to do the same.
If the board think that political threads are not wanted that’s up to them it’s their forum after all and they can do what they see fit they put the time, effort, money in so have my respect .
But the people who are appalled and implying that political threads are the most abusive are wrong imo.
I personally think the board will be poorer if this happens, however I will obviously abide by that decision and will just carry on ignoring the threads posts I don’t want to read as usual without complaint,

I enjoy them. On the whole, they're reasoned and constructive. And educational - I've learned stuff about the EU and how our membership came about than I ever knew before! We've even had folk on here with some rational, well-constructed arguments as to why we should leave, which aren't always the easiest thing to find. There have, of course, been more than a few of the 'wi shud just gerrart' brigade - that being both their wish and their reason for doing it. Checks and balances....
I don't think they should be moved - much like Brexit itself, once the whole process is done with, they will soon disappear from people's thoughts. In the same way that nobody ever came on here bemoaning the EU before June 2016, it will soon vanish as a contentious issue within a few weeks once the tabloids have moved on to something else.
They should stay - the rich tapestry of this BBS would suffer without.

    Agree with that .
And mostly it’s the “we shud just gerrart brigade who having no substance or argument as to why we should “gerrart “ when debated decide the worlds against them and are being bullied and want the ban .

There has been many upon many abusive/insulting football threads on here in the 17- 18 years that I have posted on here. I won’t, nor do I need to trawl for these posts. See Marlon’s post above and the likes he has. Perhaps if I’ve mis-read your post you haven’t articulated it very well. The ‘subtle bullying’ line you used in your post inferred it was coming from one side.Or is it Humbug. You said as long as ‘ these views remain on this site it can be argued that the site supports those views. Site Admin are responsible for policing this site are they not? Toff’s post above practically sums up what I was going to finish with so To allay the risk of being accused of ‘subtle bullying’ I’ll leave it there

    Yes you’d probably think that.

But you fail to see that your post to which I originally replied criticised people for contributing to threads and showing their allegiance - whilst very clearly highlighting your views in the same post. You made yourself a hypocrite before anyone responded.

I have no issue in us disagreeing on political views or anything else.

And I agree that there have been many sanctimonious ‘I am right you are wrong’ posts on threads about Brexit in particular.

But I’m not having that it is one sided or even close to it, and to assert that there have never been any personal insults on football related threads - when many a regular poster has been suspended or banned for precisely this - is plainly wrong.

When was the last time you were on the forum. Not been a matchday thread for a number of weeks now and no threads have been moved into a matchday thread since the trial of it first match of the season. Nothing has been condensed. Proof that people will moan about anything.

Your first sentence doesn't make sense
I have made no secret of the fact that I'm a 'leaver' but I make no reference to that in my OP.
I think that if you read the Brexit threads there is a lot more personal abuse heaped on the Leavers (check PR's et al's posts) than is put on the Remainers.

Yes, I got it wrong re insults on football threads and I apologise.
