Please will somebody explain to me the purpose of the offside rule which has been there ever since i can remember(60yrs) Why not do away with it , all it does is cause problems especailly since you were not offside if you were not interfering with play.If you are on the field you are interfering with play. And on top of that we have now introduced the dreaded VAR which has made offside even more laughable.Thats on top of the handball rules,is it a pen, isnt it a pen,was it foul 2 mins ago ,or was it the 2nd phase.Ok refs do drop b....cks but at least most fans have got over them by tuesday.

If you completely dropped offside the game would become a lot more defensive and crap to watch. Every team would have to keep at least 1 if not 2 defenders back at all times to prevent babbylining

    Goalie when needed?

    Baby lining?

Only score with your head in the six yard box?

I'd like offside to be clear daylight between players and not by a gnats bollock hair. The handball should be as it always was with either ball to hand or in an unnatural position rules as pen. Everything looks worse in a slow motion replay though.

Babbylining, not heard that word since I was a kid!! Remind me, is that when you hover near the goal, hog the box etc?

Is that the same as goal raking?

We called it goal raking in Worsbrough. Thought baby lining was a Terry nappy.

Jumpers for goalposts :D let’s go all the way, imagine the arguments at the cup final over whether a shot was over the imaginary bar or not :p

The height of the imaginary bar was always as high as the keeper at the time’ finger tips when jumping. The problems/arguments/fights started when it was goalie when needed and there was a change in reach parameter.

It sounds much better, and more entertaining, than VAR.

We could let all the players line up, then let the two managers pick their sides. Should even things up a bit for clubs like ours. :)
