To battle to stay up. I hoped we might do better than that. Theres still.time for my hopes to happen though
That it would be tough. I don't actually think it's as tough as I expected. We're staying in games for a decent period of time, but ultimately falling short because we can't score.
Half agree with that. We've put in better performances against Fulham, Leeds and Forest than I was expecting and (other than Fulham) it has been our inability to score that has hampered us, we've actually competed well. But that glosses over the Carlisle and Luton games when were abject and there was very little to be positive about from the Birmingham and Wednesday games. But, as you say, 4 goals from 9 games, 6 blanks, tells its own story.
I thought we were coming in to a much better league and that we’d take time to adjust. We have been in games, the performances have been there or thereabouts, but I am hugely concerned that we’ve scored just 4 in 8 games. That isn’t an adjustment issue, it’s a lack of ability issue I fear. Chaplin, Thomas and Wilks have shown glimpses but have not proven good enough so far, Woodrow seems to have forgotten he wears 9 (in fairness he drops in search of a sniff of the ball), though there is never any outlet up top centrally. I’ll be at the Brentford game in hope rather than expectation.
Early June I thought we would finish mid table, early August I thought we'd do well not to finish bottom of the league.
Depends on whereabouts in the pre-season you’re at. In a sort of chronological order. I was confident that the squad that got us promoted would be absolutely fine and expected a good season of consolidation? As the new season neared and Pinnock then Moore left I was concerned but still happy to put my faith in the new lads. Moving on to present date? The performances so far have been good, bad and ok, the results obviously not so good? However, I won’t write this team off or the season. It’s only September, keep the faith, maybe we just need that one win to set us off on a winning run.
To score goals, win occasionally and play more than two 3 pm Saturday home games in a fifteen week period.
A fairly reasonable response to this question. Thanks to everyone who took part. I genuinely thought we'd get smacked a few times this season and ultimately go down because we'd recruited badly. Not bad recruits, because I think we've signed a lot of very good young players. But badly because we could have added a few experienced players on short-term deals to help the younger element along. And even worse, we allowed a full summer to go by without recruiting a couple of decent strikers. So before the Fulham game I expected struggle. And struggle we have, to get points/goals. But the performances on the whole have pleased me. I thoroughly enjoyed watching us today. We didn't deserve that. We deserved to win in truth.

I was optimistic that we could finish about 15th or 16th once we sold Kieffer Moore & didn’t replace him & had no striker that can win headers or hold a ball up I went to thinking we’d get relegated
