He had a good game against Charlton, but that was a different type of game, with more space in midfield. Agree he was lousy versus Carlisle & last night.

Wasn’t it Anderson who gave the ball away last night? Thought it was at the time but too depressed to watch the highlights

Was given a very bad ball from McGeehan. Was then out of position & Sibbick had to deal with Jutkowicz, who out muscled him. 1-0. Game over.

We'd have got a point without that error. Diaby and Anderson were a rock until then.

Totally agree. Lessons need to be & can be learned. For me there were some outstanding performances in defence & by Mowatt on Tuesday. One slip up & a player like Jutkiewicz will pounce. We have no chance of signing a player of his pedigree at Barnsley sadly. He cleverly bought the yellow card for Mads too, not cheating, there was contact, but the ref had already spoken to both players regarding their duals & he knew how to play it. That is the price of experience.

Anderson gave the ball away, not McGeehan. And rather than Sibbick being ‘out muscled’, Sibbick was actually ball watching, not marking his man, and not goal side. Look at his positioning as the ball comes across.

For the second, look at Diaby’s positioning. He had been dragged way out of position onto the far right of the halfway line to cover for Sibbick who again was out of position and tracking back from an upfield position in a forward run that came to nothing. Diaby had no choice but to commit in an attempt to close the man down, as there was nobody else.

I understand the back line is still gelling together, but Sibbick’s lack of cohesion last night in my opinion cost us greatly. You mention the price of experience and that applies completely in this case. When in possession, he either quickly passed it back to Diaby, and in doing so retaining position (very defensive, nervous mentality but fair enough), or he attempted to play forward and gave the ball away. I cannot understand why Cavare isn’t even in the squad. The lack of threat going forward from Sibbick, and the basic defensive errors stood out a mile. I wasn’t at Hillsborough, but from the other three games this was by far his poorest performance (I thought he played well against Fulham and Charlton) and let’s hope he learns from these mistakes.

The most disappointing thing about last night in my opinion was the manner in which we conceded; we really did gift them both goals. This was apparent in the away end at the final whistle, there was a feeling that we simply threw it away, and a 0-0 draw was on for the first 60 minutes. The threat going forward was very poor and we clearly missed Woodrow dearly. I don’t believe however that the team didn’t try, nor do I think it was down solely to individual error. They tried hard and passion was there - largely from Diaby, Mowatt and Chaplin - but the worry is that the overall quality was lacking against a poor Birmingham side.

We are four games in. I’m not going to chastise Paul Conway, or Stendel’s tactics, or McGeehan. And I don’t think Kieffer Moore was desperate to stay (he said himself the deal had ‘been in the pipeline for a long time’ and it was a ‘fantastic feeling’ to finally sign for Wigan) regardless of whether we will miss him over the course of the season. But I do think the next few games will be crucial in the way the season pans out. As always we need to get behind the team and in doing so deserve a positive reaction, starting on Saturday. At least it’s never boring..

Mental. He was immense against Fulham, cocked up against Wednesday but I'd put Birmingham's first goal more on Andersen than Cameron

To be fair he's not going to say he's gutted to sign for his new employers, is he?

Watch again mcgeehan passes it to Anderson when he doesn't need to and gives Anderson hardly any time to react

The pass was a good while before the goal. Williams never blocks a cross and Sibbick was static. We need Cavare and Pinnilos back in the team to compliment the 2 decent centre back replacements for Pinnock and Lindsay

Did you see Pinillos versus Carlisle? Was miles off the pace.

Which game were you talking about? I was clearly talking about the Charlton game.

That’s true, I agree. But to go on and talk about it being in the pipeline for a long time, about getting the deal over the line, and ‘I signed because of the way the club is going’ strongly suggests Kieffer Moore had a big say in it and wanted to go - the wording goes beyond ‘I’m happy to sign and can’t wait to get started’.

Some on here make out he has fallen victim to the demands of the spreadsheet, that Paul Conway gave him a good kicking before flinging him down Grove Street; that he was surplus to requirements; that we are cocky and make out we don’t need him. I think everyone that has left the club wanted to go, and what can you do? Replace adequately. Whether we have done that remains to be seen..

Replacements are young and inexperienced and will take time to develop. We may not have that kind of time in a very unforgiving league. It's a huge risk.

My issue with Sibbick is that he rarely provides a decent cross in attacking situations, usually preferring to pass back or inside. At least Williams occasionally puts a decent ball into the box.
