Don’t get me wrong, I cannot for the life in me understand why people let these things off as it: A) irritates other people B) makes you look like a club from the 80s C) costs you money To answer the question though, smoke bombs don’t harm your health at all whereas phosphorus flares may sear your retinas out and cause skin burns.
And in the reading of a few posts I go from thinking Wednesday are a disgrace to realising that once again some of our following have once again shown themselves to be complete muppets. To those of you who couldn’t get a drink at half time, don’t blame Sheffield Wednesday. Blame the ******* idiots setting off smoke bombs / flares in enclosed places and singing racist songs. Absolute joke and once again our club will be dragged through the mud
I’m asthmatic and I don’t agree. The children that set these things off though need educating that these things are old hat and make them look like bell ends.
It’s a confined space in the Leppings Lane concourse , there was more than one smoke bomb let off , I’m all for letting boys be boys but that was just f@cking stupid
Yeah I've just got back. Can confirm it was because of our neanderthal away following. Completely disgusting. That's me done for the season for away games. It's pointless. Racist chanting. Idiotic behaviour. Abuse of stewards who try to keep order. I'm out.
A couple of hundred imbeciles will have away games to themselves before long, as more and more decent folk stay away.
Welcome to the club. That's the conclusion I came to 2 years ago. The number of good people who are put off going to follow Barnsley because of these pond life is growing.
I've stopped going to away games because I don't want my 5 year old lad to see some of the things that are going on. You get verbal abuse for daring to sit in your allocated seat and some pi*sed up idiot causes a scene and issues threats because wants to sit with his mates. Smoke bombs and flares set off frequently, racist chanting, behaviour towards stewards (Southend away last season). The club need to take swift action against the perpetrators (significant bans should be issued) otherwise we will soon be in big trouble with the authorities.
i hope our club release a statement saying they've identified the culprits with help of the stewards, other BFC fans and the police and significant bans will be issued to all.
Was definitely flares at Half Time (because they weren’t given a reason to let them off in the first half). One young girl (steward) escorted off in tears by other stewards because of the abuse she received. Another programme seller was ‘jokingly’ attacked by a fan. Another steward was surrounded by our fans giving him absolute verbals. ‘Cry in a minute’ being shouted in stewards’ faces after the girl went off crying. ‘If you’re wearing yellow you’re a lovely person*’ And the Diaby song being sung constantly because they know it’s considered offensive even though the times they sing it have no relevance to what’s taking place on the pitch. One guy had his 4/5 year old on his shoulders for the Diaby chant for a big family sing song. The kid was joining in. The whole thing was embarrassing.
Exactly. Just horrible from start to finish. Some on here will defend it - we had blokes defending Southend away last season, which was all our own doing. I hope the EFL throw the book at us - that way maybe the club can dish out banning orders to the racist, drunken, aggressive 'fans' who follow us. Pathetic
That's disgusting Loko, stewards getting dogs abuse for trying to do their jobs. After seeing the footage of what's happened and some of the reports from other reds fans I'm extremely embarrassed right now. And people question why our kick off times for most local derbies are brought forward to late morning / lunchtime...
Jesus, it just sounds awful and reaffirms my view that I want no part of it. These people support the same club as me but I'd like to think that's all we have in common. I'd cross the road to avoid them any other day of the week. It's going to become a real problem for the club.
