No figures mentioned about today's two signings in the articles I have seen. Can't see them being more than the Hristov fee though. Anyone confirm?
The bid we made for the boro winger would have broke the transfer record by some distance I heard but it was turned down.
Guess there was the Croation at 3 mil too. Wonder if they realistically expected to get them or were trying it on. I don't know the real values.
Jeeeez. No he wasn’t bluffing FFS !!! They clearly tried to sign players that they didn’t get. After all these GREAT signings I find the initial post extremely discourteous.
Or maybe the players club thought they have just sold 2 defenders and a striker for over 9 million combined so let's try fleece them and we thought no, I don't know if that actually happened just another scenario
I for one praise the £50m bid for messi as it demonstrates they are super serious about breaking the transfer fee record, respecting the manager’s very public requests for players with experience and validates their comments that they’d reinvest their S̶w̶a̶g̶ ‘transfer funds’
How good did our record signing hiristov do? He was more famous for slagging barnsley lasses off than scoring goals
Apparently Peterbrough turned down three bids from us for toney I'd hazard a guess these would have broke the record
Yesterday - we are going to get shafted leaving it late After 2 signings- we haven't broke our transfer record, we must have been just bluffing ect Can guarantee if we had broke it the same posters would be moaning we have been shafted buying a player I haven't heard of... have a day off
It's good that most took the question as just that. The master of wind up over reacting and suggesting I am discourteous You will see from my other posts I am one of the most positive and optimistic about our current situation!!!!!!!!!!!
The bids we put in for Kone and Kulenovic would have smashed our transfer record had they been accepted.
How do posters know what the club are bidding for players? Do you have friends at the club who leak precise details or are you involved in the process?
The impression I get is that the club, like other organisations agree to selective "leaks" Some maybe true, others could be to mix it up and throw others off the scent. Then there are the real left field icomings, which for me are the best when they surprise everyone. Did anyone see Oduor coming? Daniel has plenty to work with and lots of options. I hope he has all he asked for, be great if he committed to a longer term agreement now too. We probably still have funds left for January too without selling anyone else. I hope we keep Pinnilos & Thiam, but wouldn't be surprised if Mama did leave in the next two weeks, prefer that he extended. Just my musings and thoughts. EDIT, probably 4 or 5 reliable sources who get a lot right and are obviously agreed by the club as people at the club don't appear to be getting the boot for leaking.
Then an accusatory guess about bluffing is a bit odd. It’s clear we’d been linked with players that would definitely have broken the record; though we can’t trust every rumour, I can see no reason the club would make false statements. Stendel on record several times saying he wanted some experience and the club saying they were expecting to break the transfer record shows clear intent that didn’t come off in the end.
Not meant to be inflammatory. I really rate Conway. Great he mixes with the supporters and let's things slip, this does sometimes backfire, as it could on most people who try to please. It was like some of our targets who are leaked who end up not being targets at all. Different end games.
I’m sure there were ‘non targets’ leaked on purpose, but I’m also fairly certain the club intended to spend a lot of money on an experienced player that clearly didn’t come to fruition. Though that player would be a careful balancing act, they wouldn’t break their MO of under 25, they’d need to be careful re wages, either an older player or one earning loads more than everyone else would cause more dressing room disruption than any on field benefit. It’s a bit of a tough set of criteria, but the club must have felt they had a chance.
