The league should have sorted them and Bury out before the season started. It will be a minefield if they expell them from the league, who replaces them and so on
PFA are keeping them afloat? It is totally taking the piss. I'd be glad for them to go to the wall and start again. Probably better for the real fans TBH.
Totally agree Baka. There are financial rules in place that most responsible Clubs abide by. It's about time that in order to act as a detterent, the powers that be made an example by cancelling the registration of any Club that is seen as a repeat offender. This is not the first time that Bolton have been in financial difficulties, so in order as to not prolong their fans misery any longer, it might be best to cancel their EFL registration.
I was talking to a pal in the pub last night who is from Bury and a Bury fan. He is sick over events and is worried that Bury will be dealt with first and more severely, made an example of and that Bolton might get some sort of reprieve. He did mention of hearing of a hidden rule that says if a club cannot fulfil 3 fixtures in a row then expulsion from the league would follow. Maybe someone on here might know of this. Tragic for the real fans of both clubs.
I could never see this happening due to the weakness of the authorities. A 3 0 loss for each fixture should be a bare minimum for these clubs as doing absolutely nothing sets a precedent for all the clubs in this position in the future. Our opponents on Saturday being one of them.
You don't really want to see any club disappear (OK.....maybe Sheffield Wednesday.) However, like @higgybaby said, it should've been done and dealt with well before last week by the authorities. What happens if they fold half way through the season? Are their results nullified and/or a win awarded to teams they haven't played? Big mess.
They need money yet not selling season tickets or match tickets that will bring them in ermmm much needed money.
It's really not fair on the fans, though, so would hate to see any club go to the wall. I know they gave it big licks when they survived and we dropped, but that's exactly the same as Peterborough having their silly grudge against us. The management, or mis-management, is not the fault of the fans who just innocently pay their money to watch the club they love. Would it be harsh on us Barnsley fans if Chien was scheming behind the scenes to feather his nest at the expense of our club? To any right minded person, the answer is yes.
You’re right of course, but something needs to be done to stop this and to be a deterrent. There are more and more clubs sailing close to the wind, a lot of these being in the Championship chasing the money pit of the Premiership. What the perfect answer is I don’t know
About 10 years ago Chester City were kicked out of the league (they're only a small club so the EFL were happy to risk throwing their weight around). Chester City ceased to exist. A phoenix club was formed, Chester FC. It's basically the same club as before with the same fans. They didn't suddenly have no club to support. Same would happen with Bolton. Kick em out.
In the case of Blackpool the fans protested and boycotted. That's what I'd hope wed do if we knew about it.
Kick them out. As for the fans? Anyone care to remember the amount of piss taking from Bolton fans 2 years ago when they stayed up at our expense? Deserve everything they get.
Did we not do the same to the likes of Sunderland? Would we therefore deserve to be liquidated? Having a bit of a laugh is one thing, wishing fellow fans to lose their club is another. We've been near there before and we no doubt will be tested again.
Distribute the money more evenly across the league so that the lure of the premiership is lessened. Won't happen obviously.
Agree with the first bit TM. I don't want any club to come to the point of liquidation. However, as I said, they won't lose the club, it will just be renamed and reincarnated a la Rangers, Chester, Hereford. Try telling Rangers fans they've never won a league title.
For Chester, you could also read AFC Wimbledon, Newport County, Aldershot, Maidstone, Accrington Stanley, Rangers, etc...
