Have you ever seen what people say on this board when a ‘smaller’ club beats us?
This ‘teams like Barnsley’ thing is is totally hypocritical and endemic of the victim mentality of a portion of our fans.
Similar to the people that read into sky sports headlines more than my ex girlfriend reads into my social media posts.

Can’t believe we’re selling to teams like Wigan, Brentford, Preston, etc..

Let em...even agree with em….ye were slow, sold too many good players ...really nervous about the mighty Carlisle, …….unless Stendl plays the development squad in this competition....then we may give em a chance

More times than I care to remember. When lower opposition in league cup have played us off park. Macclesfield away got battered for 90 minutes. We fluked an equaliser near the end. Then continued to get battered in extra time. WE LOST. AWFUL NIGHT.

I remember that also the 4 1 subbing against Leyton orient too!

Everything happens to us. Worse ever day was Oldham away 2 goals in the last minute. Still feel sick now!

We've had some terrible results in my time supporting us (32 years) but the Orient one is definitely from a nightmare of yours. We've only played them twice since 1982, in 2014-15. Won 2-0 at Oakwell, it was absolutely freezing and quite a dull game, and we drew the return 0-0.

That's not the same thing at all. It's more frustration that traditionally smaller clubs can pay more than we are prepared to.

The reason being is that they don't live within their means and are in a false position.

    Nothing to do with condescending.

I wouldn't count Preston in that list either

Some do, some don't. Doesn't mean it's acceptable to think that way.

Some people don't do any research before posting about other clubs, which I always think is a bit short sighted.

I Remember Bassett. Changing all 11 players At Tranmere . ( Will stand corrected) from previous league game. Ball ache to get there. Tanker spill on M62. Some only got there before half time. (Got beat 4-0). But fans weren't happy given so many changes. But in this case I believe we have enough quality in depth to turn out a decent side .

I can remember Basset off loading Dezeuw and liddle to Wigan not because we needed the money but because they weren’t in his plans .

For me it's not merely thinking you should be beating certain teams it's WHY you should or are in a position to think that way.

Of course many clubs should expect to beat us given the gulf in resources.

Should we be beating Carlisle? Absolutely! We haven't bought our league position.

Should the majority of the top 2 leagues expect to beat us? Absolutely! Some of those clubs have a tradition of being top clubs, getting much bigger crowds and tasting some level of success.

We can all live with a bit of condescending based on expectation because sometimes it's hard to disagree with.

It's not hypocrisy to think, for example we should beat Carlisle, but to be offended by Fulham fans thinking they have the right to roll us over. It's just not as simple as that.

We haven't had a sugar daddy to elevate us above Carlisle. Can some of the other teams say the same about their reasons for looking down on us?

My mate has supported Carlisle for 40+ years and doesn't think they will. Known him 30 years and we've never played them in that time.

Just depends how Stendel views the game and team we put out - likes of Chaplin etc should start - we should beat them but we've had our fair share of upsets

I was talking to a couple of Fulham fans after I got off the train yesterday. After I said in thought they should win today they were less confident. Pointed out that being ex Premier league means little if they don't win the battle on the pitch. I'm glad they were right and I was wrong.
