Anybody use one? Have been mostly a Windows laptop user but you seem to get a lot more bang for your buck with some of the Chromebook deals. As long as I can run Office (though not essential as I can use office online version with my tenant) and that I can fully access all my work stuff on Onedrive, and I can install Powershell then I'm happy. Another slight concern is storage - I guess I currently have more in Onedrive than the total storage of some advertised Chromebooks. Macbook is a no ........ I can barely work an iPhone so am not pushing the boat out for a Apple notebook. Win10 I trust, but not a fan of all the bloatware on a new device and can't be fussed with a clean install. Cheers in advance.
Not sure about powershell but office will be ok - it can't be installed on some chrome books but as you say online versions should he fine. As for storage I'd advise people to start using more online / cloud based options. Physical storage has a habit of failing - my mission is to get teachers off pen drives in schools
Cheers. I have a lot of O365 cloud storage, plus GoogleDrive, Dropbox etc. I just get a little precious about have certain things available locally.
I've had a Chromebook since 2013 and it's ok. You can't do everything and Google Docs work with Office, as for Powershell you can install it but you have to launch it via a command line via a Terminal. Not tried it but there's steps on Google how to do it. Don't think it could replace a Windows 10 laptop completely
Dont trust cloud storage for security . Plus the fees for it seem to go up and up. At least with pen storage its physically in your possession.
Plenty of decent free cloud storage - things like pen drives aren't ideal in schools especially with Gdpr. Lost count of that conversation - pen drive not working - have you backed it up? No! Ok .....
