We might as well pack up now, and send our season tickets back. Yorkshire Post have a sort of pole of all the bookies and we are favourites to go down ignominiously in 24th place along with Charlton in 23rd and Wigan in 22nd No prizes for who they have for finishing as champions
Can't understand why so many are tipping Luton to do well. Lost their manager and then lost a 50 million point gap in between them and 2nd only to win the league on the last day. They've lost their best two players in Justin and Stacey and replaced them with cast offs, and also replaced their manager with a bloke who's never managed before. They are in no way in a better situation then us but you never see them tipped to go down.
I think they will struggle cos they've bounced up the leagues and maybe lack any real championship experience. And as you say it's a new manager. As I understand it there are financial concerns at Charlton, chairman made differences with Bowyer public so maybe not such a happy ship. I like us being the underdog though so I'm not complaining. No one really rated us in the Premiership season yet we did much better than Palace who didnt have a home win .
To be fair it does state that the predictions are based on the bookies odds. All they have done is go down the list of odds.
It's not difficult to see why outsiders think we will go straight back down. If we weren't Barnsley fans we would think the same. Lost the keeper, lost both first choice CBs, star target man has had a lack of minutes and might be sold, lots of new players who have never played this level before and head coach with less than a year left on his contract. The front six of our team will have plenty of goals in them. The back five will probably take time to gel. Some of our 4-5 year contracts will look brilliant business and make us millions down the line. Nobody in the transfer market gets it 100% right so some of the players on 4-5 contracts we might be worrying about how we can move them on in 12 months time.
The bookies can get it wrong. They certainly are at Catterick this aft. Last year the odds were on us to win the title ahead of Blunderland. Wrong on both counts.
Leeds would be favourites if it’s on money placed in bets, most of their fans must have them on standing order to win the Championship
