Whether you agree with betting sponsorships or not, you have to agree paddy power are the greatest in the game at getting people talking. They've announced today that it was all just a joke shirt that monstrosity of a kit Huddersfield released, but instead they still are sponsoring the shirt but wont have a logo on at all. Brilliant. That has to be the most talked about shirt release this year so they've succeeded massively and its tickled me how they've gone about it all.
I think that might be a fair bit of damage limitation on their part... No company would willingly sponsor a kit without their logo being on it.
I doubt that very much. You can go instore and buy it in less than 24 hours. It has been a calculated publicity stunt which has worked well and has compensated for lack of shirt sponsorship.
Obviously planned from the start, it was a obvious fake as it broke the rules and I'm sure this would have been known. The shirts that are going on sale will have been produced well before the events of this week. They aren't going to have the name on the shirt and already have mor publicity than if they had done. Plus Huddersfiled fans get a kit with no sponsorship on it, I bet sales will be sensational. Brilliant all round, I'm very envious and agree with the ad, wish it was our shirt!
It’s gone viral already and probably had enough attention these last couple of days than it will for the rest of the season. Kings of marketing, the shirt is actually class too without the sponsors.
The away shirt is impressive too, a plain navy blue. I think they'll sell a tonne of shirts this season, wish we had done something as smart as what they have.
I don't think I agree with this, doing it this way they've got way more media coverage over 3 days than the betting company who have sponsored the likes of Leeds, Middlesbrough and Preston for years. Its genius. Plus, they've made it look like they're on the side of fans of all clubs by removing everything from the shirt and now setting a campaign to bring back unsponsored football kits which I think most would agree would be a great move. Its brilliant all round.
I reckon it's probably Apple who have the best marketing team. The way they get people to buy their stuff every year without fail is astonishing.
I would put that down to everyone just following the trend and people cant be bothered to go out and find what phone fits them best. If the cool guy at work has an iPhone then everyone else has to get one its pathetic. we need more Sheppard's in the world and less sheep. Sent from my iPhone.
Maybe so but thinking that this is damage limitation is more naive than cynical - there’s no way that they could have the shirts ready to go in such a short time. It was a masterclass in getting exposure, in the end by not displaying a logo, by Paddy Power. I would imagine they’re probably paying more to Huddersfield than we are getting from The Investment Room as well, I’ve nothing to prove this of course but I don’t think it’s too much of an assumption.
It bothers me that I have an iPhone but it was the only small smartphone that was decent. It’s the first smartphone I’ve owned and I’m not planning on ‘upgrading’ it any time soon.
Whilst I agree they’ve got tons of publicity from this, I’m not sure that infuriating your own fan base is a good idea, or good publicity. I know Huddersfield fans who are still annoyed about the stunt.
Maybe so but I'm still envious they get to have a shirt with no sponsor on. If I were a town fan I'd be tempted to buy a couple could become a collectable.
Surely the one's who are still upset about it really need to lighten up. It's harmless banter. I understand people being upset when it was announced and thinking it is real because I would be if our had a sponsor as big as that across the ****. But now they've announced it as a hoax if anyone Is still fuming they're being stubborn for the sake of it or lack a sense of humour. Plus they now have the smartest kit in the division off the back of it.
