Why is this phrase used all the time these days? Boris has just uttered it.

Especially in a political party sense.

Who thinks there would be a crisis if e.g. Tory and Labour no longer existed?

Their disappearance is not a problem. So where's the threat?

Anyway, the phrase should be made non-existential. Or not. I can't remember which.

Well no he isn't, of course.

Are you Jeremy Hunt btw? You've hidden yourself well on here all this time.(How do you support Villa and The Hammers at the same time? (same shirt from a distance - could be a cost saving ruse?) )

It is to the party’s tbh.
The existence of the Tory’s for instance was more important to them than the consequences of their actions as regards the country .
The threat of UKIP and the actions to avoid it were more important than the stability of the country.

I believe what marlon is saying, and he’s correct is the tories have put themselves first. As usual. At everyone else’s expense.

I'm a centrist Marlon. We are indeed far more sensible. Or is being superior reserved for the extremes?

But yet you can’t see why Boris would see the end of the Tory party as an existential threat .

I don't care what stupid extreme of the political scene either Boris or Jezza choose to operate.

I do know that there are sensible people in the middle who will continue to lead their lives, irrespective of any temporary turbulence.

Normal service will eventually be resumed.

    We will all still exist.

Your cleverness clearly doesn't extend to the correct use of the apostrophe though. ;)

It’s not about you though is it ?
Your question was why do people use existential threat in a political sense as Boris has just used it .
I’m saying in his world and the Tory party’s world that the end of the Tory party with the threat of the Brexit party is an existential threat .
I’m neither arguing for or against their thinking just saying that’s what some of them think hence the referendum that’s divided the country to save their asses

I meant you no harm mate.

But when you tell me what I meant to post, I know that you have no idea.

Only I know that. Plus, I never insult anyone.

And when I say anything, I mean it.
