Forgive my ignorance as I’m not much of a better, but if Barnsley are hot favourites to go down, and i think we won’t finish in bottom three, is there a suitable way of betting in this? I know i had a spread bet on us before, but i cant remember how it works.

Just been looking on Betfair, and we're only 1/3 to avoid relegation, not really worth a bet:(

Don't spread bets work on points (or goals). So you put money on us getting over a certain number of points and if we do you win and if we don't you lose. Because it's on a spread you can win or lose multiples of your stake.

Spread bet will be against a pre-determined range, eg Barnsley to get 46-52 points. You bet a cash amount per point increment above or below (eg £30 per point). If you're optimistic and go “higher” and we finish on 54 points you win £60. If we finish on 20 points, you lose a lot of money! Make sure you set the right bet amount because if you lose, you’ll lose a multiple of it.

As we are usually unfancied, I’ve often made good money out of this. I’m hesitating this season because I want to know what players are going to sign new contracts first.
