Motherwell have rejected bids from Celtic and Barnsley for David Turnbull. The highest of the two offers - both of which were submitted in the last 24 hours - was for £2m but still falls short of the valuation placed on the 19-year-old midfielder. The club believe Turnbull, who has two years left on his current deal, is worth more, with a value of £3m being mooted for the academy graduate.
I can't see it being us who offered the £2 million and wouldn't have thought that we could compete with that. I thought that we were being linked with another Motherwell player called Gorrin. May just have been a rumour though. I wonder if they are quoting our interest as a stalking horse just to up his fee and salary? Happens so often, but we did well to get Lindsay two years ago, so, who knows? Looks a very good player for 19 years old.
Reports suggest a bid of £2 million has been made and knocked back. They want at least £2.5 million and a £500 k add on fee if he is ever sold on. Bristol City, Derby and Southampton are also apparently interested in signing him as well. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/celtic-barnsley-fail-2m-bid-2954864
It's nice to be linked to such a player for such a fee though. Higher than the chicken feed the naysayers will have us believe we can afford.
It's understand Motherwell rejected a £1m bid from Celtic as well as a higher offer from English Championship side Barnsley. https://stv.tv/sport/football/1438349-motherwell-reject-two-bids-for-david-turnbull/
He's the hottest prospect in Scottish Football at the moment. I'm sure I read somewhere that Motherwell were wanting 3.5 million for him. I'm surprised we're in for him and will be equally surprised if it he doesn't end up at Celtic as they won't want to fanny about ala John McGinn last year.
You never know. The championship is a FAR bigger and better league than the SPL. SPL is on average somewhere between League 1 and League 2 IMO.
In another article I've seen, it says a bid of £1.3 million has been rejected. That could be us. Question is would our Board pay £2.5 million for a nineteen year old.? If they will, it could be a start of a new era at Oakwell and their quest to establish us in the Championship.
TBH if he has ambition then he should look to sign for Barnsley as he might get a game. If he goes for easy money then Celtic will be his destination along with splinters in his arse as the bench is about as far as he will get. Its the Celtic way. Buy up any good Scottish talent which might harm their league winning prospects and let them rot in the reserves. Happens all the time.
Well, l cant imagine us bidding 500k for him it must have been 7 figures if Celtics bid £2m. New regime.
