Oh aye putting a spoiler in the title and being happy our guy lost to someone who looks like a fat Alex Mowatt. A guy who's sold out stadiums all over Britain sadly bought in to the hype of fighting abroad. It had to be harder for him to get pumped up to fight in an arena that wasn't full. He will win the rematch. Everyone loses at some point. Credit to Joshua for taking a press conference when it would have been easier to hide away. He'd been out of the ring far too long since his last contest.
I'm disappointed for Joshua. Seems to be a great role model and willingly gets involved in worthy causes and campaigns. He goes to work knowing one fleeting punch could kill him. Wish him all the best for the future.
It is the nature of heavyweight boxing that every fighter has a chance due to he power of punching. This however wasn't a lucky punch win, Joshua was completely exposed by Ruiz. I'm glad too, the sky sports/Eddie Hearn hype was getting unbearable.
If AJ can win the rematch then we should get the decent fights as I suspect Mr Hearn will be more open to negotiations now
Don’t be surprised if Joshua never fights in the US again. My guess is he’ll have the rematch in the UK & all of a sudden have much better stamina
I predicted he’d win every other fight. I predicted he’d win against Ruiz also. So I’ve got it right 22 times. I’ve always said he gasses when hit, can’t take punches in bunches. And I’ve always said Fury and Wilder beat him. You are looking for something that isn’t in the post.
Again, seeing what isn’t in the post. I said it amuses me that folk saw AJ as ‘better’ than the other two. I did not state that he couldn’t beat one or the other. Agree with your other points, obviously. It’s boxing.
You said in the response to Jay's post "I’ve always said Fury and Wilder beat him" i.e. beat AJ. Now you're saying AJ could "beat one or the other". It boils down to opinions at the end of the day, and when they're in the ring, owt could happen. Anyway I reckon that after last night, some time or other, you'll be able to make your fortune at the bookies. AJ will have to fight one or both of them, unless he gets mullered again by Roly Ruiz.
It's not about seeing and wanting failure it's about the skills and grit and determination needed to be a true champion look at Lewis, Holifield, Ali. The had boxing ability and knowhow of how to beat the guy in front of you, Joshua as a punchers chance that's it he has no skill that's needed to beat top contenders, he is 2 muscle bound and gases easy, no head movement and no survival instinct, sorry but it's true...
Agreed. I'm quite surprised how many people are disparaging Joshua on social media. If he was a bit of a **** then perhaps a little understanding but he's not. I'm glad Fury (someone who really understands) has sent a nice encouraging tweet.
He just needs to watch some Ali videos. Get the cat running around the ring for a few rounds. Then hit him. Very poor tactics.
I don’t think Dubois will win his next fight if I’m honest. Gorman boxes his head off for me, think it’s way too early for both fighters but Gormans style is all wrong for Dubois in my opinion. I have been wrong many times before though.
Styles make fights, that was the worst ive s3en aj box he wasnt listening to what rob McCracken was telling him. aj v wilder would be a good fight I'm not too struck on wilder boxing ability either. Fury on his day would beat both wilder and aj imo and Ruiz would struggle to land a glove on him imo.
I don’t often gamble. I’d have lost last night had I done so. I fancied AJ inside three rounds. I did not expect a little chubby guy like Ruiz to be the man to kill the AJ myth. But Joshua looked worse than ever, and Ruiz was much better than I expected. I think he has to take the rematch. Do a Lennox and revenge the loss. Get the belts back. He’s still got some major strengths as a fighter. But he isn’t fixing glaring issues. Whether that’s his or his team’s fault, who knows. Ruiz would give Wilder some issues, but I’d still expect him to get cracked hard and that would be that. Wilder is too quick and a much better defensive fighter than AJ. Fury would make light work of Ruiz. It would be embarrassing. I look forward to being embarrassed myself one day when someone beats Tyson. Maybe in a fortnight against the bum Schwarz. It’s boxing. Owt can happen like we say. It’s why I was up til 5am watching.
I think AJ gets hit with shots and can’t recover quickly. He was there for the taking when Whyte wobbled him. And Wlad should have definitely taken him out when he had him wobbled. Ruiz knew what needed doing. Fair play to the man. AJ vs Wilder or Fury would be good fights. And we will see them I’m sure. I am not writing him off after one loss. Many of the very best ever lost fights. And he does still have some great strengths as a fighter. But they have to work on his weaknesses.
