He's still got a tremendous amount of potential and from what I have read the Ipswich fans rated him as one of the better players. We will certainly need a more defensively capable right-back next season, and I think he would fit the bill. An outlay of around £2m would be money well spent as he'd likely retain most of that value after three years no matter what, with the potential of being worth much more if he improves like he should. We saw it with Woodrow, a young player with Championship experience but needing a sustained consistent place in the first team to truly kick on.
Fits the profile so you never know. We forget he's still only 21. I would guess that his performances for Ipswich will dictate whether we make a move or not, although the emergence of Jordan Williams might have changed our view. I have heard he's willing to take a pay cut wherever he signs next.
Thought stendel has already said the club would be looking to extend cavares contract we have the one year extension option. Can't see us going for bree if we do unless we plan on loaning Williams out.
50+ games is hardly not kicking a ball. Especially when he's just played Hence my last comment mate. If we were interested in Bree it would have been prior to Williams playing so well.
Fair enough I did like bree while he was here I thought he was better offensively though. Dont think id want us to break our transfer record to bring him back.
I'm not sure he would command much of a fee to be honest. Potential is still there but after 40 games in three years I'm not sure it's a seven figure deal. I do wonder if Villa would be prepared to do a deal removing future monies owed in return for a discounted transfer fee? But again, the way way Williams played towards the end of the season we might have two right backs already vying for one place in the team.
I really hope they sell that horrible little cheat Grealish and Conor finally gets his chance to shine in prem. Might even get a move to a bigger club himself then. All the luck in the world to the lad. Had to work hard to win reds fans over but ended up one of our best recent players....
A work colleague of mine has relatives who are Villa fans. He says we are set for a windfall on the back of today's promotion.
I took notice of Dean Smiths words when he was interviewed after the game. He picked Conor out for particular praise and acknowledged that his input and passing against West Brom in the semi was probably one of the major reasons that they were at Wembley celebrating promotion. You might well be right 55&C, he might struggle, but I honestly think Villa will keep him and could use him from the bench. I don't know if it was noticed, but at the end there were players like Kalinic, Kodjia, Jedinak and Landsbury milling around and they didn't even get on the pitch. That's around £16 million quids worth of talent, who in the majority of cases would probably be regular picks in a lot of teams. It would appear that the Clubs new owners have the resources to take the Club where it needs to be. When he was asked if the Club would have been in financial trouble had they not gone up, their Chairman replied that they wouldn't and when asked what cash might be available, he said that the sky's was the limit. Sounds as though the good times might be set to return. It's an absolutely massive Club.
Watched him play centre back at Preston for Villa, had a great game. If there’s a chance get him back.
