are falling over themselves to be the next to pick up this absolute turd. Surely you want to be the leader after whatever the ultimate Brexit outcome is rather than the one who has to drive the bus with no brakes, no steering and a load of passengers who ******* hate you no matter which way you go.
Whatever the outcome, they'll just blame it on their predecessor and half the country will gobble it up.
It will be blamed on several things May doing it wrong because she was really a remainder The remainers in the Civil service not doing their jobs properly and the other EU countries deliberately punishing Britain It definitely won’t be the fault of any hard Brexiters not getting us to the sunlit uplands because it was always impossible to deliver a hard Brexit that didn’t screw up the country
Tories will try to blame Labour for not supporting them. It’ll be spun along lines of “ we tried to deliver what people voted for, but Labour stopped it happening” Modern politics is all about the blame game.
Liam fox had already suggested he would get rid of the civil servants that have doubts about Brexit. I'm not sure getting rid of the experts that understand the complexity and replacing them with believers that don't is certain to succeed....
Don't forget the Tory owned press and the billionaires that back the party will want their own puppet elected... The pigs with their snouts in the trough will not surrender their positions lightly so will want another thatcher / May hardliner who favors them and turns a blind eye to the real problems and will lie through their back teeth to protect them... Boris fits the criteria perfectly..
I don't think the attraction is initially being PM, MR, especially of the Conservative Party. Their membership has dwindled to 124,000 and the average age of their members is now fifty five. They appear to be a divided shambles. The lure is once that they leave office, as ex-PM, they can make an absolute fortune publishing their memoirs, dishing the dirt in newspapers, as well as making thousands on the after dinner speaking circuit, sitting on the Boards of large Companies etc and undertaking consultancies. The increased wealth of the likes of Tony Blair and David Cameron since they quit front line politics has been absolutely eye watering. As well as his £305 daily allowance for attending the House of Lords, Baron Prescott of Kingston upon Hull, has also enjoyed writing newspaper columns/articles and presenting TV programmes. He won't be doing that for nowt.
Very true though I do think you underestimate some people's massive hubris, self regard and naked lust for power. Boris is already made for life as are most of the candidates for PM I'd imagine.
I’m running. I may be a left wing socialist but having seen the other candidates I’m fairly confident
The jobs already mine. Day 1: dress code is shorts and t shirt, if you’re gait tells me you’ve never played football you’re out Day 2: interview for your own job Day 3: employ actual people that have lived a bit of actual life Day 4: get the **** on with some graft
As well as his self professed ambition, it does appear that Johnson is a conceited buffoon. He also comes across as a megalomaniac. As for his personal wealth, it looks likely that he will be relieved of some of that very soon. He's aiming for a quickie divorce within 6 weeks from his estranged wife Marina, so that's bound to cost him. If he becomes PM, he's indicated that he will move his girlfriend Carrie Symonds into No 10. I don't know for certain, but if he does that, I would imagine that he could be the first ever Prime Minister to live over the hoover.! He needs to enjoy it while he can. Political pundits are now tipping that there will be a General Election in October. I honestly can't see how the Tories can get enough votes to win an outright majority, but time will give us the answer in due course.
