The deal we got was a result of TM's red lines - not the EU It doesn't take a genius to realise that; May's red lines were the fault of the ERG, the same ERG who wouldn't support her deal. It's quite obvious that people who have 'blamed' the EU for all the ills they see, will then want to blame someone else for the outcome of their poor decision making. So the current mess is the fault of 'westminster', 'remoaners', 'the EU' 'the 'liberal elite'... Anyone but themselves. This mess was caused by Brexiteer tory MP's pushing their leadership for a referendum - failing to come up with a plan or even take a lead in trying to create a plan - they've just continued to blame everyone else that they're not getting their own way.
She's not the villain. Not an inspired leader but given an impossible task. One of the real villains is about to become the next Prime Minister of the UK.
Brexit has seen off two prime ministers and I think there’ll be more casualties before it ceases to be an issue. Whichever ever way you see the referendum I think the Tories have united most in thinking they couldn’t run a bath . The whole thing from the referendum debacle has been at best clumsy the way they have gone about this . A coalition on Brexit should have been put in place from the outset , it never was a Tory only Brexit and the fact that people are still arguing about it is because of the sham way it’s been orchestrated . As a remainer, if a coalition on Brexit had been in place I would have had no argument but the fact they have buffooned from one catastrophe to another has legitimised any argument against it imo.
Not a chance, basing his campaign on Boris Johnson and being a Muslim, get some policies and could have a real chance oh and the he talks about as a youth having to make choices, well Labour were in power for most of that
She's shown more personality in the 6 minute resignation speech than in 3 years of office. I guess she was trying to avoid the 'women are too emotional to lead a country' trope, but ended up acting like a robot.
Actually if listen closely it wasn't emotion in her voice at the end , her batteries were running out
Really surprised to hear some of the leadership candidates " calling" each other on this evenings news bulletins. They still haven't grasped the fact that they really should be putting the British electorate's best interests before their own ambition. The majority of the population are sick to the back teeth of Brexit and politics in general. Angela Leadsom was the thirty sixth Cabinet member to leave her post during May's tenure. I feel if there is a General Election, many more will no doubt probably but reluctantly follow her.
At what point, does the 2016 referendum vote lose its validity? Already it has been 3 years, and given a likely extension in October (2 months to replace May, 2 months recess, then conference season so not enough time to get the required bills through Parliament), will be looking at nearer 4 before we leave - if it happens. There have been quite a few countries lasted less time than this, never mind previous governments in the UK. We will be on the 3rd Prime Minister, 4th Government (Cameron, May pre-GE, May post-GE and new PM) and still holding pursuing something that is steadily destroying careers while eroding everything in its path. The change in electorate since 2016 is now around 2.5-3 million, or double the difference between the two votes and increasing all the time. At what point will someone at the top just say "Enough is Enough"...
Very good point. I would think the additions to the electorate since the referendum would be significantly pro remain.
It was being so desperate for office that got us in this mess in the first place. I know what will.make he popular have a referendum on Europe, even though we have no idea how we'll.actually leave.
