    It ended up with a me me me speech at what she'd done not what she'd not done.
    Her farewell speech told us more about the woman than all her years in office.

    Whilst I agree it did tell us a lot, I think her time as Home Secretary told us more, her highlights should have included:
    Setting the tone to allow the windrush abomination
    Making stop and search almost impossible which together with police cuts laid the ground for rising crime after decades of falling crime
    scrapping terrorist control orders despite protestations from security services and police
    presiding over spiralling anarchy in prisons/detention centres with her only answer being more privatisation
    I could go on but you get the drift

    The only problem with her resignation, is when you look at the other options in the Tory party, they are all actually worse than she is.

    Picking one is like an animal scat taste test. Every single one leaves a nasty taste in the mouth.

    Sobering thought isnt it - the worst PM in my memory and all the likely replacements fill me with even deeper dread.

    Still its good that now we have our sovereignty back we all have a say in who the next PM will be at one of the most difficult political times I can remember.... wait no what! ... that choice is down to a mere 100k mostly elderly members of the Tory party thats democacy for you

    I really don't see how a change in leader will lead to any different outcome in a hung parliament. The EU are unlikely to budge on the deal on the deal on the table. So leave with no deal, a second referendum or a general election seem the only options left. Even those 3 options are unlikely to receive a majority in a vote.

    All you say is true but a new PM who wants to can ensure we leave with no deal even though that is against parliaments wishes. Just run the clock down and let us fall out on Oct 31. A Leave cabinet won’t do anything to prevent it. I think leaving with no deal at the end of October is now the most likely outcome by far.

    Of course they will go through the motions of trying to get a better deal against the intransigent Europeans and fail so Europe will force us out. At least that will be the spin

    Feel free to bump in November if I am wrong I hope I am

    When the next Conservative leader also fails it won't be the fault of the Conservatives for causing all this mess it will be the fault of the EU. About as strong and stable as a one-legged bloke with rickets.

    It may be that the make-up of the new EU Parliament - new President - will be less intransigent - it may be that other countries will question the dominance of France and Germany and things will be different.

    Long odds on that. Likely to be more intransigent if anything. The Irish border doesn’t suddenly disappear for example and they already offered us a Customs Union. Hard to see what they can change

    There is any argument that with the defections and the DUP, that the new Tory leader won't automatically be PM as they won't command a majority in Parliament...

    At least we can now have a situation where there is respect for democracy and the will of the people.

    To be clear 125,000 people are now going to 'elect' the next Prime Minister of a Country of 65 million people. "Land of Hope and Glory...etc......"
