The paper reports that the double deal of Lee Gregory and Adam Davies should be completed before the end of the month.A guy on Stoke City forum claims Davies had his medical yesterday.
And good luck to him if he goes. It's closer to home and a higher wage, and he's represented us well. Sad to see him go if it's true but won't begrudge him the move.
Vital in both promotions to the championship, not many players get to leave with all the fans best wishes but Davies will be one of them.
He will be a big loss and will be very difficult to replace. He'll go with my best wishes if / when he goes.
Goal keepers are ten a penny. If you put an half decent team in front of them they have to do naff all anyway. It's when you're playing ***** that they look good. Even then they can't save every ball. Thankless position. It's the nature of the beast. I wish Davies well as I do his replacement.
Beswicks based in Stoke is apparently his agent and they like to tout to Wolves, Stoke and Birmingham. Let’s see.
I said that yesterday BMW in a different thread but didn't read it anywhere though. I bumped into a fellow Red last Friday who used to work with me and he told me about Davies and Gregory. We had a very reliable source in the Midlands working with us, so my mate might have heard that way, but, thinking about it now, like yourself, it is possible he could have also read it somewhere. Our colleague had a relative who played for Stoke and had also been a manager of league clubs. He told me that his relative had once been asked to manage City, but declined because the minute you agree , in the majority of cases, in time , you get sacked. His relative was born in Stoke, they were the only Club he ever played for and the one he still supports to this day. He's still revered as as one of the Clubs all time legends and therefore wasn't prepared to do anything to change that. That reminded me of the reason our own Mick McCarthy has always given for not ever wanting to manage the Reds.! Makes sense. Enables him to visit Oakwell, with his head held high.

I think heckys thought process was the same whereby when he took the managers job it effectively meant he then had to leave one way or another. His head ruled his heart and he seems to have been consistent with that since.
Said it before Tilertoes, he surely fully understood the role of First team Coach when he agreed to take the job, having experienced previous regimes from when he was first appointed as a coach in the Academy. If he didn't agree, he should have politely declined the offer and reverted back to his previous job. It's no good taking on any role having been informed of the salary and job description and then moaning about your lot further down the piece. I said after his outburst after the pre-season friendly at Rotherham, you never ever wash your dirty linen in public. I was very surprised that Patrick didn't publically censure him, but as we now sadly know, he probably had more serious matters occupying his thoughts at that time.? When the new Board took over, Hecky finally did the honourable thing and moved on of his own volition, although as we know now, things didn't work out for him.
Hecky was right to say what he did after the Rotherham game. He knew the squad wasn't good enough and he also knew that he would have to carry the can for poor results and/or relegation.
Agree CT he was entitled to his opinion, but to my mind, you don't expose the Clubs shortcomings on local Radio, or in public. He obviously was not in the loop with what was going on behind the scenes, a fact I think he was later to confirm, regarding new CEO and owners. The fans fully recognised that we weren't good enough at the point he said what he did, but as some on the BBS have said, had he stayed with us, we possibly would have avoided relegation. Morais was brought in after he left and the rest is history.
Sorry to see Davies go. Always liked him after the away win at Fleetwood in the Johnstine’s paint semi when he swore live on Sky. Was awesome that season and was disappointed to hear the dog’s abuse he got when he went through that spell when his confidence was low. Hope that didn’t influence his decision to leave after another brilliant season this time round. He will take some replacing.
