Because listening to stendels interview I'm not convinced he wont get poached as he was reserved about his future. As for our star players who will be on small wages compared to other championship clubs, they will be in the spotlight for clubs to come and steal them. Weve heard it before that we had to cash in as the player wanted to go...well lets see what the club's intent is to keep this squad together and build on it. Davies's interview points that hes going. God help the likes of pinnock, lindsay, mcgeehan, mowatt, moore, Woodrow. Thats our spine and clubs will come wanting to steal them. So i pray our owner' keep hold of this amazing squad and manager.
The new owners got off to a very poor start. On Tuesday 30th April 2019 was the new owners proper start date. We will get a good idea of what they are made of in the next few weeks and months.
He's going to be reserved about his future. Club could be thinking we will offer him so much a week, hear him all enthusiastic about being with us and decide he will renew for less. I don't blame Daniel for playing it down.
Let's relax and enjoy Saturday and start worrying about Daniel and any players who may or may not intimate that they want to go during the close season before the Class of 2019 trot out in August. My former boss used to take me and the Staff I was responsible for out for a jar fairly regularly. His mantra was " if people play together, they usually stay together." You don't have to be too bright to see that Stendel respects every player in the squad and for their part, the majority love the man and his game plans. They will probably see what has happened to Marley Watkins and James Bree and if the money they are offered to stay is realistic, hopefully decide why wouldn't I sign to stay.? They should take a lead from Alex Mowatt. Shown the door at Leeds after Redders practically built a team round him before he left and came to us. He was probably carrying a tad too much weight when he first came and was farmed out on loan to Oxford. But I don't think many would disagree that his form this season has been brilliant with the result he was our Player of the year and his fellow Pros voted for his inclusion in the League One EFL Team of the Year. Pinnock has been very complimentary about Daniels input. He's a very different player than the one we initially signed from Forest Green Rovers. He probably needs a couple of seasons in the Championship with us. If he makes the progress he's hopefully capable of, there's no reason to doubt that he will eventually leave us for a sizeable fee and hopefully enjoy his best years in the Premiership. https://www.skysports.com/watch/vid...1708576/pinnock-dulwich-values-have-helped-me
His English has come on! Is this the interview he did all by himself? Because if it is I woukd nt read anything into it. I do know that he wants to be a very successful manager but the jobs not finished here yet
They never hang themselves or nail their colours to mast so to speak do they? You're right better not to read owt into it. Changing subject I don't see need for these doom n gloom threads so soon after promotion mate.
They turned down plenty of offers last season, l'm expecting the same this season. Although all that will be posted on here is the anger at the sale of 1 player for good money and the ignorance of the 25 approaches that were turned down.
really? Daniels never seemed anything than totally enthusiastic about the club and the challenges when I've heard him, especially given that he is still a bit limited on his English. Davies well what do you expect? He's after a new contract and a raise, he's hardly going to say he will stay whatever at this stage.
Genuine question how many offers did we turn down? I heard rumours about Lindsay to Stoke & Thiam to a club I can’t remember in January but not that an offer was made
A lot more than 2, it was reported in the Chron by Doug O'Kane when Potts was sold, the quote was numerous bids for several players or something along those lines. Conways also stated this in various interviews.
Don't know if I'm missing something but I'm struggling to see what the club did wrong on Tuesday. Is there a risk of Daniel being poached? Of course. He was highly rated by the Board when we signed him but what he has done this season will have greatly increased his stock. Hopefully we can keep him, but he is very able and no doubt ambitious. Clarke, Wilson, Heckingbottom all went for bigger jobs. Daniel might do too. It's one of those things. If so, he would deserve his chance. His appointment gives confidence that the Board can recruit the right head coach next time round. With the players, we are living within our means but they might move for better offers. At least we are not compelled to sell anymore on our own account. The thing is to have the next wave ready to come through - hopefully fished from a slightly better pond of young talent. Look at the way McGeehan has come on. Brad who? The future looks good, even if the cast might change as we go along. COY(Championship)R!
The whole club from u18s up is being trained the Stendel way so I'd like for him to have it well cemented and us secure in the league before he moves on. We'll have to see I suppose.
It’s just normally we get lots of tweets from Radio Sheffield journalists whenever we receive bids which didn’t really happen & I’m always a bit wary about believing what the club say
Of course there is. We’ve got to be realistic, he’s living in a flat in Barnsley away from his family. If he gets an offer from a Bundesliga club or for substantially more money from a club over here then I’m sure he’ll be off just like any of our players will be.
